Location: Here | komet. - 2014-12-21 5:19 AM I remember my favorite Christmas memory... I was working on my 1st cow dairy... about 7 or 8 days before Christmas the only pet in a herd of about 170 cows had her 3rd calf. She was a Holstein and the biggest pet you ever saw. One of my favorites. She had a hard calving and was paralyzed in her rear end. For the first three days she would try often to get up but she would just fall over... Soon she just quit trying. Twice each day I would go out and bring her food and warm water and clean up behind her.... I found some old blankets to throw over her to keep her warm. My boss told me they almost never got up after being down that long.... This was to be my first Christmas away from my family as the boss wanted me to work so he could be with his family all day.. After milking and doing the cleanup on Christmas morning, I loaded up the usual food and water and went out to see #5.. the down cow... As soon as I walked up with the bucket of water, she stood up.... I was so happy I started to cry... I don't know if that was my best gift ever, but it's the one I remember the best.
Great story Komet. Thank you for sharing |

| My favorite Christeas memory goes back to when I was a kid....in the third grade.
I was living in Washington and my parents and family were very close then. My sister and I were camped put in her bedroom waiting for Santa because I still believed. My sister and I stayed up all night telling stories and at one point she even got me thinking I saw Santa out the window. Eventually we fell asleep and woke up at like 5 in the morning. Santa had come. I will never forget how the Christmas tree looked. It was beautiful! We got my brother up and mom and dad up and opened presents. I got the coveted Furby my mom managed to swipe off Ebay. This memory may not seem like much, but it was one of the times I remember being with a family that wasn't broken. Not long after that we moved to Kentucky and my mom had a mental breakdown and my dad moved on and from there I moved out on my own. Now Christmas is spent running around to all these different places. Heck, I can't even get ahold of my dad to see what he wants to do. Sometimes I feel like we have lost the meaning of Christmas which is not about the gifts, but simply being with the people you love and enjoying them. Merry Christmas guys! Hold your loved ones close and make some memories that will last a lifetime. |

Location: LA Lower Alabama | I'm one of those weirdos. My daughter is now 5 yrs old but my favorite Christmas memory was the first time she realized she could rip open paper and a prize would be inside and she immediately said thank you. It sound more like tank oooo but it did my heart good. |

| When I was about eight years old, my family was having some work done on part of the house, including the living room, so we could not put the Christmas tree there. We ended up putting it in a small bedroom along with the television and the couch. This left only a small bit of room to move around. My favorite Christmas memory is my entire family smushed into that tiny, crowded room and watching A Charlie Brown Christmas together. |

Location: North Dakota | My favorite Christmas memory: Going to Grandma's house on Christmas Eve Day. All the cousins would be there. We would go ice skating on Grandma's pond (Grandma would ice skate too). We would play football (had mostly boy cousins). We always had to have Lutefisk with supper (Yuck). After supper we would all get in a circle and join hands and sing Silent Night and other Christmas Carols while Aunt Lana played the Piano.

Location: on my horse | my best christmas memory was the year 2000, I was 8 years old. We had lost my first horse earlier in the year to arthritis and had spent months looking for the perfect horse that would give me confidence and take care of me. About three weeks before christmas we drove about an hour in the fog to look at this "red roan" gelding, he ended up being a big ol 15.3 HH deaf appaloosa gelding with the most beautiful mane and tail I'd ever seen. I fell in love with him before we even got out of the pickup and knew that he was the one. Reno took care of me that first day that we looked at him, and we came back the next day to look at him again. My mom swore to me NO SPOTS!! We are an AQHA family and that isn't going to change. Low and behold christmas morning I stepped outside our front door and tied to the porch upwright was Reno! He was my best friend for 12 years, every christmas morning he would get a special treat and we would bring him up to the house to hang out with the family and re live that special special morning. I have the best parents in the world, and had the best horse that any girl could ask for. He was my best friend, rodeo buddy, deer hunting friend, 4-H packer, english riding teacher, and omoksee champion, until the day he died at 32 years old. From first ride to first rodeo, to the loss of half my soul, Reno was and still is my favorite christmas memory
