Location: East of the Pecos | You will regret it when you get older. My friend had it done when she was 20 and now that she's older and gained some weight, they look droopy and misplaced, but her skin is stretched out and she would need another surgery to make them look natural again and you can tell when she rides they hinder her. As for me, I wish I was a bit smaller because I have to wear a sturdy sports bra to feel good when I ride, and I'm just a C+ naturally, but short, so I have always tried to stay thin because age naturally thickens you in your chest area and I don't want that to happen to me (I'm in my 50's). I honestly can't understand why anyone who is serious about their riding would have surgery to add bulk and weight to their body, it seems counter productive. Spend the money on a better horse and let winning boost your ego that way. |

I think your comments are bias and misplaced.
A lot of people assume that if a woman wants a breast enhancement, she wants it so men will look at her. Not true. I'm 6 foot tall, 147 pounds, 18% body fat. Breasts are fat. I do not have fat on my body, so I have very small breasts. Yes, it's nice when I'm riding and they aren't smacking me in my face, but the other 23 hours of my day, my clothes don't fit well, and it's hard enough to shop for clothes when you are my weight and height. When I wear t-shirts or my nice work shirts, I feel like a child. It's hurtful when people think I want bigger boobs because "my husband wants them" or "I want to stroke my ego". I want them so I can feel like a woman. It's easy for women who have bigger breasts to accuse other women of wanting attention. I guess we all want what we don't have, right?
Also, to address the aspect of regret. My mom got hers done (she so nicely passed those small boobs on me!) when she was in her mid 30's. She is now 56 and still likes hers. I think if someone regrets theirs because of stretchy, droopy, etc, it's because their doctor was not as experienced. Hers are not sagging, drooping, etc. I can't imagine her without them because her body fits them perfectly. |

Location: Beggs, OK | I couldn't agree more. I got mine done when I turned 30. I had a child at 20 and another at 28 and thought that I was done. I nursed both of tehm for almost a year each. I am 5'9" and had gotten down to 130lbs after having my second baby. Mine weren't saggy, just small and my clothes didn't fit correctly. I went with a size that is just large enough that people arent' quite sure that they aren't real, lol. Best thing I have ever done for myself....other than the veneers I have on my front teeth! I tell people all the time that my favorite physical features are the ones I wasn't born with :-D
You cannot compare real breast tissue weight to implants in any way. Mine feel as real as implants can get and they are silicone gel. Even in a swimsuit they aren't noticeably "fake". When my "real" ones got enormous when I was pregnant and nursing my children I fully understood why women want reductions. My implants feel NOTHING like that. They aren't heavy, bulky, or hinder me in any way. I can wear whatever I want and not have to search for a padded bra to make it look right.
When I got pregnant with my twins they did get big and uncomfortable. The babies are 8 months old now. I pumped for both of them for 4 months and got very sick and lost my milk supply or I would still be providing breast milk for them. I've lost all of my baby weight and my boobs are still right where they're supposed to be.
I would suggest to any 20 year old to wait until you are at least 28 to make a decision about altering your body. Your body will change more in the next 5 years than you will ever imagine whether you have children or not.
Edited to add: I can ride all day and they don't hurt or cause me any discomfort...and BTW my bra size now is a 32E. Implants are wider than natural breasts so bras fit differently and a 32E is not nearly as "big" as it sounds. I was 34C prior to my second child.

Location: MD | I would wait until later in life, things up top are going to change, weight gain/loss, kids, shape, sagging. I feel like it would be more beneficial later in life if you're going for a purely cosmetic approach. but if you wake up every day and are constantly unhappy about your chest, then do it, it's your checkbook and your body. Whoever is saying negative things is either jealous that they can't be honest with themselves or are worried you'll look better!
and I want mine done to be more shapely, not necessarily bigger but I want a pretty and straight smile first so that's my top priority.

I am very dead set on a person liking me for who I am and it's heartbreaking to see women that think they need to change their body for any reason. Everybody should be loved for who they are, not what they look like.
That being said, I don't think any less of anyone who does. I may not agree with it, but I'm still going to love my friends whether they change anything or not.
I am grateful that they have breast impants and other cosmetic surgeries for those who do need them though, for medical reasons. |

Location: Missouri | My mom is a mammographer and her advice is NO, no way, and absolutely NO! She hates taking images with implants and says they are harder to read. Also, implants means more views (i.e. more squashing.) She's seen A LOT of boobs and thinks they look ridiculous on older women. But, I still want them!
eta: my bff had them done a couple of years ago and hers are like rocks! lol! They look fine, but when she gives a hug, it's a little weird!

Exactly how I feel. We all have things we like more about ourselves than others. At the end of the day, there are a lot more important things to worry about. Also, I'd never get past the "what if something went wrong" for the sake my vanity. It took me a long time to work up the nerve to have surgery (non-cosmetic) for something that needed to be done to make me healthier. |

If you ride horse and have large breasts they will definitely hit you in the face and pop some buttons. Believe me I know, been there done that. Glad I went and had a reduction.
I just had a reduction (12th) and best decision ever. Painful as hell, bruised like crazy, and those are some massive incision. None of my shirts fit. 1,100 grams total taken out.
I was a B until between freshman/sophomore year in college.. And NEVER wanted to be bigger! So I guess do what makes you happy.. I do know more than one girl that thought they wanted big boobs and they are just huge went from B to DD.. One is seriously is looking into smaller implants bc she's unhappy.. Another girl went from A to small C and she looks just fine. All three are athletic and workout all the time.
I'm excited to start riding again and will actually be able to not wear two sports bras or bra/sports bar combo!! I should end up a B/C when all the swelling leaves. |

I'm in my 20s and my insureance would pay for it but I still won't do it. I'm happy with what I got. No need to go through all the pain.
How would your insurance pay for an enhancement? I have the wrong insurance, ha!
Insurance only pays for reconstruction after mastectomy. They will pay for reduction if needed. Cosmetic procedures are not covered! |

| Heck no I would have gotten a reduction!! I don't understand young women "WANTING" to go through surgery if it's not life and death... BUT that's just me growing up with VERY large breasts... When I was diagnosed with Breast cancer last year I was a 38GG... That is not a typo...
And on another note, a friend had gotten implants from a average "b" to "D" and now 3 years later she hates them... complians she can't get clothes to fit decent. I told her before she got the surgery not to do it... AND I told her she will have trouble finding clothes to fit nice... She is pretty thin so with large breasts you get the connection. |

For the underlined portion. I don't think anyone who gets them done thinks it's a one and done procedure. There is maintenance and additional surgeries in your future that they need. Every surgeon sheuld be telling you those facts.
If I'm not mistaken you have to replace the implants every 15 years. otherwise you start showing rippling, sagging, or risking a bag weakening/breaking etc.
ETA I quoted with m's response too on accident

Oh really? My mom had hers for 40 years and I've had mine for 25 years problem free. l would do it again in a heartbeat. And it was all about what I wanted for me, no one else's opinion drove me to it. In some respects its like working out, going on a diet, tackling a tough job, or decorating your living room how you like it. If it gives you a better feeling about yourself and your world, why not? |

My mom had a double mastectomy with reconstruction 20 years ago and hers are still hanging in there. |
