This blanket is by far the best, I live in the frozen tundra and have gone through TONS of brands. All 6 of my horses are wearing this and I sold almost all my old blankets.

I like Tough-1 blankets, they are around $50-200 They are good quality but I have had a strap rip off, but It was my fault! I have never used Weatherbeeta but have heard all good things about them. There are some great deals on Tough-1's on Stateline Tack right now! http://www.statelinetack.com/item/tough-1-1200d-snuggit-turnout-200... almost 50% off some! Good Luck

All my horses are wearing tough 1 blankets. I really like them and they have held up really well! I was stuck on weatherbeeta's forever and I tell ya, these tough 1 are just as good! Some of mine are 4 years old and have never even gotten so much as a snag and they fit awesome!!!

I may look into a Tough 1 blanket after reading this! The price is definitely right. How does the waterproofing hold up? I have a SStack blanket on its 3rd winter and its still 100% waterproof. I love it but it was lots of $$'s and I need a cheap waterproof blanket for a pony of mine.....

1200D is good and the amount/weight of fill looks good too. That's a very good price.

2 of mine are 4 years old and still as waterproof as they were the first day and they are worn daily during the winter. We get quite a bit of snow and wind here when the storms blow in  and last week it was below zero w/ highs in the low teens, 60mph winds and blowing snow. My horses were toasty and dry in their tough-1's. For here we get the waterproof heavy weight w/ 300 grams of fill.

This is a lil off topic but I've always hated slinkys until we got a horse in the barn with the full body one from sstack. It is wonderful, easy to deal with and very durable. I like it adds an extra layer BUT still wicks moisture away from the body. We will be purchasing one of these for each of our personal horses next winter.

I have used Wetherbeetas, Tough 1's and also a few of the Open Range ones from Smith Brothers.  As far as quality for price, the Tough 1 and the Open range one are just as good as the more expensive Weatherbeetas. I have had all of mine for several years, and just this year had to re waterproof them. Mine are all out in the pasture, and sometimes we get some monsoons when it rains. I have been pretty happy with them all, but I actually like the fit of the Weatherbeetas the least. They do hold up good, and stay in position, but I dont like the way the fit at the top of the neck.. It seems like they could get pretty uncomfortable if they are wearing them for a long period of time.  Also, they have the buckles that attach in the front.. They are a PITA to buckle and unbuckle when your fingers are freezing. I like the snap closure of the Open range and Tough 1..

I have tried a zillion blankets trying to find "the one". So far my fave is the Horsewear Mio. You can get them from state line tack for $85. They are only a 600d. But I've had mine 2 yrs and my horses go outside. The thing I like is they don't have leg straps!! They have a butt strap that you don't have to buckle or unbuckle. The blanket does stay in place. It has never slipped on my mate and she lays down a lot. Dislike the T straps on the front. I like the ones with snaps. However my Weatherbetta that I tried that has the snaps. Well the snap broke after 2 months use. They are replaceable but still a pain. T strap buckles are harder but never fail!!

Schneiders or tough 1....i like both...usually get my youngsters the tough 1s as theyre cheaper but tough n cozy and then Schneiders when they r grown but both hold up and are great...I've had Rambo, weatherbeeta etc but compared to schneiders they aren't worth the extra $$

This is the one I just got and LOVE it! I love the high necks because they don't rub out the manes and it's a pretty high denier.

Weatherbeetas or ss storm shield. Basically anything from sstack.com I love their stable blankets too because they have high fill and price isn't bad then I normally double up and throw a high denier turnout sheet when they go outside. Done that for years and I have blankets for years! I'm one to talk I go to the thrift store looking for deals for myself but will buy whatever it takes for my horses lol

My favorite blankets.. They fit great and mine is old and it has held up they also live in a barbwire cow pasture... So they r pretty tought blankets.. I figure rather spend a little more cuz they last longer and you not spending less but lesssen the quality and have to keep replacing them.. I have heard great things about the Tough 1 blankets as well. horseware ireland is high quality too!

I've had great luck with tough-1's. I have been using a stable blanket 600 Denier for about 6 years OUTSIDE in rain and snow, and they finally gave out this year. Got a new tough-1 but a nice 1200 Denier 300g fill coming in the mail today! Super excited. Of course I ordered ONE before my other horse ripped his so now I need two :) Their snuggit neck style ones that are new are very nice. There's a seller on eBay named greenrivertack and she was great and good prices.
