hammer_time - 2015-01-13 9:21 PM  Are you on birth control?  My mood swings completely disappeared when I went on birth control.

I was going to ask her the same question.  I have horrible anxiety and depression ON birth control.

I used to have daily mood ups and downs, until I found a very high quality nutritional supplement. I feel the happiest and most stable I have ever been, along with a host of other pain and energy problems resolved.

Lavender, Chamomile (which comes in a tea and is calming), and Valerian Root are known for being soothing pick me ups. You can get them as a tea, herbs, or essential oils. I like bath soaks and salts too. Always nice to take some down time.

Yoga and meditation are good. Black cohosh is known to contain natural forms of estrogen which might help if it is hormones. You can also try raspberry leaves and sweet potatoes for similar effects natural hormone wise.

These will be good natural options, especially as you claim you are eating well and exercising which tend to be the best first pick me ups. Make sure you are getting plenty of sleep too. I saw a really cool watch the other day, the ifit, that helps track your exercise (steps), pulse rate, and sleep every day. It loads the information to your phone so you can see your patterns. I think it syncs with MyFitnessPal.

Finally, I will say that birth control has been a lifesaver for me. I too am on the Nuva Ring. I don't have to remember to take it every day and my mood swings and back pain (which were both horrible) are under much better control. :)

What high quality nutritional supplement?

Can you get birth control by just wanting some hormone help? Or just say you wanna be on BC and not get into specifics?

If you are an adult, you just be able to go to an OB/GYN (if you don't already have one) and ask for it. You don't have to "prove" you need it. My husband had a vasectomy years before I met him but I stayed on B to help control my VERY heavy periods. If you do try this, tell your Doc WHY you want it. You may have to try several different prescriptions until you find one with the right balance of hormones to help your symptoms.

Good luck!

I have found out lately that hormones can have a tremendous effect on you. A good exam and an honest conversation with an OB/GYN may help uncover the cause, if it is hormonal...say something like Polycystic ovary syndrome, for example.

If that doesn't help, then continue to explore alternative options. Good luck!
