Just seen it tonight and we thought it was a great movie. As for the end being "flat" ...It was a true story and he died, so not sure how much add lib they could have made it. The ending with real footage did make me cry. It hits real close to home here at our place too.
OK... My own fault for even looking at this thread.. I was in theater reading this waiting for movie to start and read this post. Buzz kill for me.
Still, a movie to leave you thinking and speechless. |

| We went and saw it last night. Very intense, yet very good. I too cried at the real footage after the movie. |

| I thought this movie was brilliant. As far as moving slow....I disagree completely....in fact, my only complaint is I thought it moved to fast...but that is because I wanted to soak up everything I could about Chris Kyle. A life like his is hard to put in a two hour movie.
I don't like violent movies and I don't like war movies....but this is different because its a true story and I think every single American should watch this movie. We go about our lives everyday and we never really truly understand the lives of those who protect this very freedom. America's dream is peace. But the reality is we are living with people (terrorists) who hate everything we stand for and want to destroy this free country.
Chris Kyle was a hero. He dedicated and gave his life to protect all of us. Although he was one of most notorious snipers of all time....we should focus more on the lives that Chris saved and not the lives he was forced to take.
Bradley Cooper, in my opinion, became Chris Kyle. I would venture to guess he is a changed man after that performance. Eastwood did right by Chris Kyle and his family.
Take some time to see the movie...but before you do...know who Chris Kyle was....it will make the movie much more powerful. |

Location: Texas | I love the movie!!! I love how real it was. But what I loved most about it was that they showed how hard it is for them to come back home and adjust back to normal life. When we walked out of the movies nobody said a word it was like we were leaving a funeral. I absolutely LOVE this movie!! |

This!!!! I cannot agree more. I remember the first time I saw Chris Kyle. It was on Conan and he was just out promoting the book. He was so humble and such a hero to me in the few minutes I could see of him. I recall immediately getting on Amazon and putting his book on my wish list. I never did get around to reading before we went to the movie but I was already familiar with his life and death. I liked the way they ended the movie. I think they did a great job with the scenario being what it is and the footage from his procession was heart breaking. I made it through the whole movie without crying until that point.
As for comparing it to Marcus Luttrell's book & movie, I think this movie was much better than Lone Survivor, the movie. There was so much that he wrote about that didn't end up in the movie, but Lone Survivor the book was amazing, gut wrenching and I was crying so hard I couldn't see the page at one point. I still haven't finished American Sniper the book, so the jury's still out on that call. |

Ditto. I read he donated all the proceeds from his book to families of fallen Navy seals. He was a true hero. I am thrilled the movie is breaking box office records. Hollywood liberals are going crazy tweeting that he was a coward, no one should watch it, etc., apparently America disagrees. American Sniper crushed hypocrite Michael Moore's (the champion of the poor who owns several multi million dollar houses- do as I say -not as I do kind of guy) movie. Love it! |

If you haven't read the book yet, get the special edition with commentation from Taya added into the original manuscript.
Chris Kyle's killer, Eddie Ray Routh, will stand trial for capital murder on February 9th here in Stephenville, TX. They already pushed it back once and I hope this time they get it done. |

Location: Wisconsin | Just saw it last night...all I can say is WOW, excellent movie, I had no idea who Chris Kyle was until then...what a true American Hero...and to all the military/war haters shame on YOU and go move to another country like Iraq! ( I had read comments on a FB post) The ending left me unclear as to WHY this happened to him? I guess I don't understand that 25yr olds motive? I know he had post traumatic stress...just so sad all around. I really want to read the book now, does anyone know where to buy it cheapest online? Amazon? |

PTSD can be devastating in so many ways. Hopefully this movie will make more people aware of the struggles our soldiers go through, including the reality of PTSD.

| LOVED the movie. Only thing is, is that I wished I would have done some research beforehand like my SO had. Makes you more than thankful for the people in our armed forces. I was so happy that he started to pull his life together after the devastation that he went thru then to end like that . |

| Ok Komet, here you go. Clint Eastwood did a fabulous job on this movie as director. But I think the point is, he did such a good job, that people are talking about what Chris Kyle did and the tragedy that occured because that's the point he was trying to make. While I'm sure he'll bask in the recognition for doing a good job, all he cared about was making sure our country is coming together patriotically like they should to assist veterans and current troops. |

As for the liberal haters. I'm not a bit surprised, they have nothing better to do than talk smack about things they know very little about and don't agree with. They are all anti war, anti military, anti anything patriotic. They are the people who think that food comes from the store. They live in their ivory palaces living off stupid people who buy their propogandic crap. Micheal Moore is a fat hypocritical *******. and I have never been a Seth Rogan fan, don't like any of his movies. He's a cynical, sarcastic jerk. And I like sarcasm, but not his type. Besides that, he's Canadian. No offense to Canadians in general, but he doesn't understand the sacrifices our military have made to give him the opportunity to come to this country and spout garbage. The best way to shut them up is to just ignore them. However, one of my favorite responses to the ignorant comments came from Andrea Tantaros....
"American Sniper is a true story to honor an American hero that defends their right to be complete losers," |

Well... It's just I wanted to know why nobody mentioned him...a director can make or break a movie and Eastwood did such a wonderful job on the two Iwo Jima movies (Flags of our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima) I thought his name would be a good plug for this movie. |
