| I am your age and have similar problems. Not a fix to the problem, but one way I get money for expenses like that is sell stuff we don't use on craigslist or ebay or FB. If this is an option, make sure you go ahead and pay him so you cant spend it. |

| Are you familiar with Excel?
I would first calculate what you make each month.
From that I would budget 30% to savings and use that as an emergency fund instead of getting a credit card.
Then I would deduct bills.
After that budget so much for eating out or fun money, groceries, fuel etc.
If you come out without being able to cover bills then you need to decide what to get rid of or get another job.
I don't mean to sound harsh, but this is the real world. How you handle your finances now will set you up for success or failure.
If you want nice things that's fine, but don't be afraid of working hard.
A good work ethic will get you anywhere. |

Location: ohio-in my own little world with pretty ponies :) | Sounds like you need to learn to budget your money or sell a couple horses. If you have to worry about having the money in APRIL for $300 some dollars then you can't afford them. What happens if there is an emergency and you need a few hundred dollars to have your horse cared for and that's not likely that it would be that cheap! |

Location: London Ontario | I am 21, we live on our own three hours from our parents, we have both vehicles paid off(paid in cash), I have about $2500 in debt from school loans, and about $500 on my CC. Both my common law and I work full times jobs and are in the market of buying a house. As of right now I DO NOT OWN A SINGLE HORSE. Why you ask? Because I know at this point in my life it is not fair to the horse. I would not be able to afford vet bills or farrier bills. Do I miss riding like stupid crazy? YES. But I would rather be financially stable in a few years so that I CAN afford nice horses, trucks and trailers. Its all about priorities and budgeting. We have a budget and when we run out of money for that specific item, guess what, WERE POOP OUT OF LUCK! It honestly blows my mind when people smoke or own dogs but cant afford rent or to feed the dogs....Good luck to you.... |

Then they would get what ever necessary. If I had to go borrow money from the bank I would. What ever it took. It isn't that I don't have the money. Right now I have it next week I'll have it too but I want to have the $300 plus still be able to do what ever else. There's a 3 day show I usally go to in April. Cost around $500. I would like to still be able to go to it. If I can't do the show and teeth I won't go to the show. Teeth WILL come first. Always has always will. I have 2 jobs. One I get paid every week one I get paid once a month. The only bills I have is my phone bill and horse payment on my gelding. I just absolutely suck at budgeting. I've always been able to go and do and buy what ever and not worry about it and it's come back to bite me in the butt.

Put teu money in envelopes with the thing written on them, and once the money is gone, that's it. You need to change your way of thinking ^^^^^ THIS......Unless you change those two factors, you will NEVER be able to keep a budget.....It is called growing up and taking responsibility for your actions.....You have been given some very good insight on how to save money....different accounts, taking your lunch, etc....BUT you have to change your way of thinking.

Hope you have some collateral, the loan officer I worked for would never loan money on vet bills without some solid collateral, good credit score and low debt to income ratio. |

Location: At the race track with Ah Dee Ohs | TessBelle - 2015-01-27 5:38 PM Save money? My horses teeth are due in April and it will cost $375. If I don't start saving now then I'll never have it on time. I'm horrible with money. I've tried putting money up in a place and putting some in every week but I steal from it saying I'll put it back but never do. I've tried giving money to a family member every week but eventually I'll beg enough they will give it to me. So what's the best way to go about doing it? I thought about putting it in a bank account that I couldn't get it until time for me to have it but I don't know if banks give that option. I don't care if it draws interest just somewhere where I can't steal from it.
WTH??? Why so much? Geez, we use a Equine Dentist and he only charges $75. And it doesn't matter how long it takes him to do the horse. Holy cow, that's kinda nuts. |

Not sure. That's what everyone else's says too. My guess is because he's the only actual dentist even relitvly close to here so he can charge what he wants cause people have to have him. |

| If you have a problem budgeting, for the love of god stay away from any kind of credit card! plain and simple! The only way you are going to start saving is when you figure out how incredibly important it is! Not just for the random vet bill but for your entire life. I read quickly, but it seems you don't have much for "monthly bills - mortgage, insurance, cable, groceries, electric, phone, etc etc etc" so if working 2 jobs you can't save anything at all, you are in trouble if you don't start changing your thoughts on saving. |

Location: n.c. | So, you eat out all the time and can't have money. You need your horses' teeth done and still want to go to the race. So, basically, you want it all. Doesn't work that way. You make sacrifices in order to do what needs to be done. You need to get your priorities straight; then go from there. |

| I don't mean to sound rude, I'm not much older and understand the financial struggles after college, but if you can't afford something as routine as dental work you probably shouldn't own 3.
On another note, I had my vet set up an automatic withdrawal from my bank account. Every month they take out $100 and put it towards my account. Could always ask your vet about doing this. |
