 I Chore in Chucks

Location: MD | The trailer race is so annoying. Get that FT Ranch Dressin' "Fear the Little Bumper Pull" t-shirt and go barrel race girl. I admit I would be very materialistic if I had endless money. But since I live in the real world, I am happy that my horses are in a safe and sound 2 horse BP. They get to barrel races just the same as all the other horses and I don't have a nagging payment to make each month.
The size of your trailer does NOT reflect your hard work. |

| In response to Bears comment. This make no sense what so ever. You don't need a fancy trailer to college rodeo. And just because you don't have one, can't get one our your daddy won't get you one, doesn't mean you shouldn't go to college. I'm on my college rodeo team, and my school and lots of others take huge stock trailers. I've seen lots of bumper pulls as well. It doesn't matter at all.

Location: Bastrop, Texas | If you don't have enough money to buy nice things for you and your horse, then you have no business rodeoing. That includes a nice trailer. Parents who neglect their children and don't provide them with a decent LQ trailer are setting a bad example.
The good news is I'm sure there is a financial aid package available so a person can get a decent new LQ trailer for rodeoing. That's not asking too much. College is stressful enough as it is. No child should have to worry about the basic necessities. |

Location: North MS | I'm somewhat on the opposite end of the spectrum- I believe I have decent horses. Started with a bumper pull livestock trailer of my grandfathers and then after I got married the hubby and I saved up for my first trailer. 3H slant, steel with dressing room I added electric and insulation to. Later he got a side job (AC Work- big install) and we were able to sell my trailer and I found a great deal on my DREAM trailer. 4H, mangers, 8ft. shortwall and LOVELY living quarters. It needed a few things fixed and I still need to do a few more tiny things but it looks like I have an awesome trailer. Then I pull up and unload my decent horses. So I guess I'm getting mocked from the opposite side. But I like to have fun about everyone else. I lost my good horse- so everyone just roll up to the barrel races in what you have and can afford to haul, ride what you can afford to ride and LOVE, and do your best to enjoy the opportunity. Just wish I still had the opportunity to keep running the one I lost. It is NOT what you roll up in and ride on. It is how hard the BOTH of you try and the effort you put into it. |

This makes me sad :( i pulled a very safe 2 horse bumper pull for many years. My horses were happy and had the best care. I won many buckles/titles/saddles. If it wasnt for the reliable 2 horse i would have never been able to. I slept in the bed of the truck after i tucked the horses in.
It was actually very nice. I had the time of my life. To say i shouldnt be rodeoing because i couldnt afford a trailer i could pee in i feel is very small minded. .........i mean people used to pull trailers with cars with no tops..
Wanted to add i have a friend who does professional ranch rodeo and just sold her LQ trailer because she was tired of making payments and bought a stock trailer.

Location: That part of Texas | I actually feel sorry for kids who start out with a huge LQ or fancy trailer. They will miss out on the bonding opportunities that you can only get from telling stories about the crappy, rusted-out 2 horse starter-trailer you had when you were that age. Same with fancy houses or apartments. It's missed bonding and sharing oppportunities I tell ya. |

June Holeman made the finals pulling a bumper pull, pulledΒ by an old ambulance.Β
I seen her a couple weeks ago with a bumper pull and a truck camper.
Its a race against the clock...
That's because she got a big fine in San Antonio (I think) for driving an ambulance. Supposedly you can't drive one of those unless you are a medical professional....even if it's old and redone. That's the story I heard anyway.....so she went to the truck and camper. |

Thats about right, in a city with about 30% of the population in the U.S. illegally, she gets a fine for driving an old ambulance. |

I kid you not, there was a friend of my brother's that would put his horse in the back of his pick up truck and haul him to pen cattle........not tied to anything.....he'd jump up on the tailgate and just stand in the bed of that truck. |

oh, I've seen it done a many times. Our neighbor put racks up and hauled his two horses in the back of his truck. Down the interstate and all. He'd back up to a hill and load and unload... |

And get 3 mpg pulling.. might as well pay for a new LQ with the money you would burn in fuel. |
