FLITASTIC - 2015-01-30 2:38 PM The protocol is to give 4 shots one week apart. The dose comes out to be 5cc for smaller horses and 6cc for bigger ones. There is an actual dose on the website. Most on here give 5-6cc depending on horse size. Reason for dosing is it is an anticoagulant of sorts. Mild one. SO I would not give to horses who are bleeders within a few days of hard exercise. My good horse gets 1 dose every 10-14 days or so. My colt is monthly or more if being used hard. Both were given the 4 dose loads.
You've given awesome advice...popping and bleeding to be specific.

Your also in a small group of people I know giving Pentosan to colts. I thought I would be able to "test" the results on my Mighty Mind Bender X Mystic Eye colt but I had to put off going on him this year. I can tell you this, I've worked him 3 times, back in the winter and the early Spring. He broke the ground like Beduino bred horses. So, is it the Pentosan or just breeding and age? I hope that he can stay together (he's built to) but I have no problems spending good coin on him to keep him healthy. Can't wait for next year.

Again, thanks for your wisdom and sharing it forward.
I put my new guy (20yo) on actiflex 4000 a month ago.  He's "popping" everywhere now from his neck down to his ankles.  He wasn't before...not sure if I should open the gallon or not.    I'm pretty sure that was $100 wasted.

After reading a bit on here, I may try the pentosan.  Could you explain about the popping you mentioned?

Also, adequan loading and pentosan or just pentosan?

I just started a 10 year old with poll issues and some arthritis on the loading dose today of Pentosan from Prerace. Can keep people updated with results.

Been using Pentosan for 5+ years and love it. I like it best for the older mares. I retired my best horse after Congress (win) in 2009 , then discovered Pentosan and brought her back in to a much more youthfull self. She ran another 4 years and retired her in her mid 20's  as she won't go easy on her self and she does not deserve to hurt her self after her 20+ years of winning for my family. The stuff really works!!

I haven't bought any Adequan since seeing for my self how much Pentosan does for my bunch. At the time it was about the cost but after 5 years I realized I  don't miss it using it.
