Β I have not met the horse personally yet. We had her moved to a quaranteen facility and had the vet out to look her over and pull coggins. He told us she is straight, sound, and was nice to work around and handle. Thats all I know. We rescued another mare from the kill pen 2 years ago. She is by Twaynas Dash. The twist of fate that put her down that path was her owner died and family didnt want the horses and just dumped them. Β I hold no judgement why she was there.Sometimes people just have to do what they have to do. Β Horses end up in that situation for a myraide of reasons. Divorce, death, loss of job or house, ec`t ect ect. I sure would like to know who she is though. Β
Thank you for saving her. I hate to see any horse end up in the kill pen.
I agree, thanks for being a good person!
Also wanted to say what a great bunch of folks on here for trying to help figure out who she is. Y'all are awesome. And hope she turns out to be awesome for you too.

Thankyou so much!!Β Β Thats a really good idea how to cross reference!!Β I have found a couple that are sooooooooooooooooo close also. We wont be able to get better pics untill she gets home.
On the ones that are close, are they of the same cross? i.e. sire/dam same or maybe the sire or the dam the same? MIGHT could search that sire/dam combo or the sire or the dam offspring? (my thought process in this is some of those that have markings somewhat similiar, my be siblings, some of those mare or stallions "stamp" their foals) I have AQHA dollars, so let me know if they're are any you want checked!! Thanks

| Is it possible this is out of their pony buttons? I know the offspring from that cross looks like a 14 hand or so horse and not like a pony.
I know they bred her to their studs I think each of the years you mentioned and if I remember correctly someone had one of her babies for sale on here with the "must sale" story.
Hope you get the filly figured out tho! |

I wondered this also... the one's snip was on the wrong side and missing the tiny bit of white on the front leg. Otherwise it was really similar. |

Location: Somewhere over the rainbow | I was lucky enough to purchase a horse just hours away from being sold to a kill buyer. No fault of the horse at all. The young lady found herself in desperate circumstances and didn't know what else to do. She tried to sell her on BHW but her ad was horrible and priced so low everyone assumed there must be something wrong with her. The mare is by Brimmerton out of a Strawfly Special mare. Had a successful racing career was bought off the track and then tragic circumstances knocked this poor young lady for a big loop.
I drove three hours to try her out at a truck stop. The whole thing sounds shady I know.
Fast forward a year...this horse just won first place in her class in her first ever dressage show and was 3rd for high points out of 45 rides. I have her papers in my name and she is a peach.
I know that not all cases like this turn out to be the real deal but sometimes these horses are really worth the crazy risk to give them a chance.
Thank you for saving her and best of luck finding out who she is. |

| Also cross referened 2014 to be sure http://www.barrelhorsenews.com/articles/event-coverage/4120-2014-fu...
Only found 2 I couldnt find for sure pics of:
1. Freckles had a fling (theres a youtube video that pops up of a bay roan... but no registered name in the video to confirm that is the horse I googled)
2. It appears there was a CS Flashlight Filly Sold w/Mare (thinking she would be the mare obviously) - no more info other than consigned by Haythorn Land & Cattle Co and purchased by Paul Kenner from NE. |

Location: Where I am happiest | AQHA told me they can match her through DNA IF she had been DNA'd. So we are going to give that a try. They said they will give a reg. # and name with the DNA results. Then we can contact past owner. So YAY!! Does anybody know exactly when they changed the rule that all new registrations have to do DNA? I know our two 6 yr olds didn't when we registered them, but last years Frenchmans Fabulous filly and this years Firewaterontherocks colt we did. So praying she was DNA'd.
On another note, many of you know Traci Pratt from texas. Traci has saved 11 horses out of the kill pen in the last couple months. ALL have been very nice horses! She saved this mare june 1st. Rode her that night and gave her to her son the next morning. He has Juvinal Huntington's disease of which is progressive and there is no cure. I'm going to share 2 pics with you. The first is the day he got her 3 weeks ago, and the second, is from today. They are at The Elite barrel race. This is definatelly a case of 2 angels, saving each other. This is Roxy, the kill pen rescue just 3 weeks ago.

The ones that are really close, and the ones with that star and snip are all by ASOF but from different dams. |

         Location: Where I am happiest | Katie's - 2015-07-16 6:23 PM Well I wish I hadn't gone to that auction site. Heartbreaking.
It is very sad. Thats a site/page that lists those horses directly from the kill pen. They list horses from a couple different kill pens. The Bowie kill buyer told me he gets 10 semi loads of horses a WEEK!! It is all so very sad and for me, I think the absolute most heartbreaking are the bred mares, and the ultimate worst is the mares with foals on their side. When the mares ship across the border, the foals are seperated off in the loading chute and left behind. Alone, and most just die and/or are savaged by the other horses while searching for mom. It's just heartbreaking.
