Just Plain Lucky - 2015-10-10 6:27 AM Honestly, the "kids these days don't want to work" trope is just wrong. There are people in every generation that simply don't want to work for anything. I met a lot of extremely hard working kids when I worked in fast food - I also met a few lazy good for nothings. But the lazy good for nothings were pretty evenly spread among the generations. I also found that the most difficult coworkers were the older "adults" that couldn't handle having "kid" supervisors (that earned the position through hard work). I have a job in my actual career now and it is no where near as stressful, backbreaking, and defeating. In fact, it's pretty great. I don't think minimum wage should be raised to $15, but I'm really tired of this utter BS.

I am going to stand by my statements that “kids” don’t really want to work……having been a Supervisor over two manufacturing plants, I can tell you that I fired more “young” (under 25) people than older, for lack of doing their job. You can walk into any fast food restaurant or retail store and see those who just stand around and jibber-jabber with each other. Even those who attend college, get out and “expect” an easy road to success…..I applaud those who DO have children or know young people who actually “want” to work…..

We can use this OP as an example….her comments include.....I only want to work days….no evenings and no week-ends or not past “this” time…..well, guess what…..YOU are the employee and you don’t get to pick and choose when you “want” to work!
