| Life is too short. Start planning your exit right now. Start making cuts any way you can to save up for quitting or finding another job even if it pays less. Eating out, Cable/TV, Shopping, Entry Fees, are all suggestions, or even if you have some things you could sell. Trust me. Living without these things will be way worth not spending every day hating your life. There is always a way out, just not always an easy way. I wish you the best of luck. |

Would I be completely insane if I left a law firm to work in a Dairy? Sweat in the summer freeze in the winter and be covered in cow poop? At the moment that sounds appealing, lol
Jeans, bibs, boots.............no skirts, heels, slacks or makeup. The cows can complain all they want and it won't hurt my feelings, lol.
I love cows! Turn in your application you never know.............Starting out at the bottom is ok..... It might prep you for something else.........goodluck girl! |

Legal, Moral and Ethical...passed my litmus test. And it could get you into something new that you totally love. In my opinion, and my world, horses and cows just go together naturally. AND, you can yell at the cows and call them any name you want, it won't hurt their feelings either. LOL |

I text my hubby and he said NO. I text back why? No response yet, lol. I would love to tell cows my problems every day. It would be theraputic, lol And they have babies that need bottle feeding! It's only a couple miles farther than I drive. My commute now is only 2 miles (spoiled). Downside would be working a milk shift from 10pm to 3 a.m, however I know because my daughter has done it, she get's double pay for that shift. There are no holiday's at a Dairy either which would be a bummer too. He probably doesn't want me to because it would be wierd hours. Heaven forbid I wouldn't be home to make supper! |

I will be honest, and you probably already know this, but a job at a dairy is WORK!! Hard, nasty, dirty, never-ending work. But if it is something you would like....My hubby wouldn't go for it either, but he knows I would be roping the cows, getting into trouble, and probably bringing home calves. lol |

Yeah I know how disgusting and hard it is because my daughter works there and she reaks and is literally covered in poop every shift. She's a milker and they run 800 head in 3 times a day. She's been there over a year and it's a good part time job for her while going to college. |

| Don't they have some sort to Ethics line you can call or email. Hostile Work Environment issues are reasons to utilize those services and they will open up an investigation. Good Luck, I hate my job too. Why can't I just win a lottery... |

| Hard physical labor beats office work any day. It's good for the soul too. Nothing like getting home, plopping down in a chair out of sheer exhaustion, every muscle aching. So rewarding I'd go work at the dairy |

| Have you or can you talk to the other 1/2 (private lawyers) about how he treats you? What the heck it is worth a shot. As for the dairy if you got hired you could at least use it to tide you over until something else comes along. On thing I would say is that remember your age and how hard it will be on your body. My mom used to do relief milking for a dairy, lot of walking and all manual labor. Follow your gut and heart |

Location: Washington State | This entire forum spoke to me so much, I'm going through something very similar dealing with a very, very difficult immediate supervisor. I have approached HR many, many times and it helps for a short period but then it goes right back to the way it was. We work 60-75 hours a week and I'm salaried so I get no added benefit for longer hours. Unfortunately this has been my first job right out of college and to outsiders it seems to be an amazing job in a supervisory role at a large corporation, but I'm miserable here. And I don't have time for any outside activities such as even riding my horse and I have had to give up barrel racing almost completely. But, at the same time I'm also terrified that I don't have enough job experience to seek greener pastures elsewhere. And, there's the fear of the "grass isn't always greener".
I hope you find a solution to your situation!

Location: Missouri | I agree HR 100% isn't going to do squat. They don't want to go up against the County Attorney! Heck, a commissioner heard him and didn't do anything. I did explain what went down with the attorney I work for at the firm. He agreed it was uncalled for and everyone knows he's like that. On top of everything, the guy is his wife's uncle. The attorney I work for knows I did not lie or try to deceive anyone and I wasn't trying to cover up a mistake, as I've admitted to everyone I messed up. He thinks he'll get over it. I'm not sure I will. I'm going to keep my options open and my eyes peeled. |

Location: Southeast Louisiana | How is the dairy pay compared to what you're making now?
The poop you're putting up with now is probably worse than anything coming out of a cow.
The dairy thing sounds like a dream job for me, if the pay is there. But, I'm weird when it comes to work... I always like the more difficult assignments. Keeps my hands and my mind busy, I'm happiest that way. |

I wouldn't make much at the dairy compared to now unless I did the midnight shift. So far this week I've managed to avoid him, as we don't even work in the same building. Had to have him sign time sheets Monday but that was it. No eye contact or small talk. |

That sounds just miserable. I'm sorry you're going through that.
I'm saying a prayer for strength for you. |
