Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | ~BINGO~ - 2018-12-07 3:15 PM He’s doing well! I haven’t been able to do a whole lot with him, between weather and waiting on the farrier. We finally got shoes put on him two days ago. The farrier hoof tested him and said he’s foot sore but not limited to the heel, doesn’t feel that he’s navicular. Obviously he said x-rays would be necessary to make a more definitive answer, but he recommended putting regular shoes on to help him grow some foot out. He agreed that he was trimmed far too short and his feet are very soft. I lunged him, and he’s much improved with the protection on his feet. Was pretty spunky, actually. I’m happy to say, he’s JUST passed his quarantine time, and I was able to move him over to where the other horses are today. So now I get to go running to the window every time a hear a squeal. Hoping to get on him next week as the snow moves out and we get above freezing.
Glad your farrier suggested x-rays, it will be cheaper in the long run instead of guessing, at least you can rule out a few things if nothing if found. |

And of course, no sooner do I type that and he double barreled and got hung up in a panel. Yesssssssss.....
Crap I hope he is okay.
His hind legs are pretty scraped up, no swelling or heat at this point, but he’s definitely sore. Busted up my heavy duty panel, so I’m sure he’s not feeling too hot. He’s now back in his quarantine pen. I’m not sure how to introduce him over if he’s going to have a kick-fest, I don’t have the extra funds to deal with injuries. I have a super long run-in, with three stalls coming off of it. So everyone is separated. I guess I’d rather him kick panels than my other horses, but don’t need him hurt either.
Hopefully he is just a little sore and nothing serious. Horses, I tell ya!!! |

Lol, YES! I’ve been so blessed with the two I’ve had though. They’re tough, gritty horses. I try to steer clear of the ones prone to injury. I had a very expensive (to me) gelding, that constantly was lame, or trying to hurt himself. Sold him, kept in contact, and he’s still doing much of the same. Worst $10k we’ve spent on a horse... I’ll keep my cheap horses... |

Location: Arkansas | We don't have "expensive" horses, but even so we've been blessed to not have a lot of hurts or ailments considering we have 5. I pray it stays that way!!! |

Location: Oklahoma | I had one that traveled just like that one when I got him. Was told he needed his navicular injected. My vet x rayed and said he didn't see any reason he needed injecting, so I pulled his shoes (which were these horrible wedge eggbars that weighed a ton) and let him go barefoot and he went sound. I also treated him for EPM, as he had an atrophied shoulder. Between the two, he stayed sound. |

Location: In The Snow, AZ | Well... “Buckner” has taken on a new meaning as now he’s wanting to buck. Lol, he’s sound. Getting along with everyone now that I switched up the order. But feeling good enough to buck under saddle. I need to find more time to ride. It’s been rough between work, holiday stuff, and it being pitch black by 5:30pm. :( can’t wait for Spring! |

Location: In The Snow, AZ | Nothing much unfortunately. We’ve been having highs in the low 20s and everything is covered in snow and ice. :( other than that, “Rooster” very much enjoys opening my other geldings pen, chasing the dogs around his turnout, and unplugging the water de-icers.... every night. (Insert face palm here) |

Love his name Rooster, I had a Rooster tall pretty sorrel gelding about 18 years ago and a Blue Heeler named Rooster he came to me with that name, I had a gelding and a heeler both with the same name at the same time and hauled them both together, of course Rooster the dog rode in front with me.. |
