Dances with Wolves ... never realize how long it is because I'm completely entertained throughout the whole thing. Titanic, Phar Lap, For the love of the game, Bull Durham, Cocktail, Jerry McGuire (love Cuba) Persuit of Happyness, Urban Cowboy, The Sandlot, War Horse ...those are just some I can think of off the top and some we've watched over the last few weeks

Bull Durham minus the R Rated scenes.  Great movie.   Of course you are a baseball family so you would appreciate it.

Yes! We fast forward thru the R parts if the kids are watching lol! In all the movies ... unless they are on cable .. they do it for us!

My husband and I just finished up a series on Netflix called Containment... wow! What a great show.. seriously addicting.. last Friday we stayed up till 2am binge watching. Doesnt hurt that the lead officer inside "Jake" is super easy on the eyes lol! But seriously,  it's a great show and very entertaining. It is virus related and involves the CDC.

I really enjoyed 1917. .

It is rated R. . . just from the previews I knew it wasn't good for kids.

fatchance- The TS Spivet movie you suggested - I watched - LOVED it! good list but I havent got to any others yet.

I suggest:

Buck (the documentary of Buck Brannaman - good life story- good lessons-and it has horses in it lol)

Junior Bonner - old westerrn with Steve McQueen-my husband loves it

The Good Lie - with Reese Witherspoon (about Sudan orphans from Civil War-not a usual movie Id pick, but I really enjoyed it-funny parts, sad parts, those kids were so brave

Find Me Guilty - with Vin Diesel  (a true story Italian mob trial-longest trial in US History, where Vin Diesel's character chooses to represent himself -most of the testimony in the movie is from the actual trial transcripts-Vin Diesel did a good job - he was funny and endearing)

Stealing Home w/ Mark Harmon and Jodie Foster - pretty good baseball love story-my husband liked it (he's a sap and a baseball fan)

Family Man with Nicholas Cage - it's a Christmas movie, but hey- who couldnt use one right about now?  Normally it doesnt seem the Christmas season has begun for me until I've seen this- if you have your family, you are already rich.

Phar Lap -I remember going to Blockbuster and renting this with my dad when I was young - it look a long time to find one that wasnt $50 on amazon...but got it for my birthday last year- from Australia -it look alost 2 months to get here. Secratariat is really hard to beat but even that long ago, Phar Lap had some GREAT shots and great story.

Gotta add ----------Pain and Gain -- with Mark Wahlberg.. another not usual pick for me, but Ive watched it more than once -lots of funny one-liners.  ''The event you are about to see took place in Miami Florida between October 1994 and June 95. Unfortunately, this is a true story.. Action comedy. Fast moving.

And speaking of Mark Wahlberg---- The Lone Survivor - wow that was a great movie!

A Walk in the Woods - with Robert Redford - funny! Appalachian trail story

Grand Champion -this movie was wonderful!! - we showed it at church -and have seen it over and over - great message - lots of cameos from other stars (King George!) If you havent seen it, watch - very uplifting!

Valley Inn - a quirky movie, but cute

I bought the movie Phar Lap off AMAZON I never could get it to play because it was a different format from my DVD player. Friends could not get it to play either. I guess now is a good time to try it on Netflix

Yes there supposedly is something you can do to your DVD player, but I ended up  going to my parents' house and it played on their smart tv.

It also played on my computer at work...could try that....but I didnt know it was on Netflix-cool!

If you don't mind an I'd say acceptable overload of violence Four Brothers with Mark Wahlberg is pretty entertaining.

I watched Once Upon a Time......in Hollywood over the weekend.  Typical Quentin Tarintino brutality where violence isn't necessary and to a extreme but it does have its Brad Pitt moments.

Quigley Down Under because Tom Selleck was gorgeous in this 1993 movie and it's just a colorful, interesting, fun Western.  What's that you say Dave, you're not really into gorgeous guys.  Trust me, it's still a great movie.

You can NEVER go wrong with a Ton Selleck movie! Monte Walsh is my favorite or his!

You also can't go wrong with a good Robert Duvall movie! Open Range and Broken Trail of 2 of my favorites.

I really want to see 1917. I might bite the bullet and pay for it on Amazon to watch it.

Tom Selleck Monte Walsh is a favorite in our house as well!!!

Also, A River Runs Thru It (the scenery and the family dynamics are amazing) , Legends of the Fall (scenery, family dynamics again) Hope Floats ( my mom and I watched and rewatched that a million times so it always makes me think of her) McClintock or War Wagon (for giggles and good ol' John Wayne)  Tombstone (can never get enough of Doc's sardonic wit)

A lot of good movies out there.

Lord of the Rings, trilogy. I think it's available on NetFlix right now.

Any Marvel movie (Seriously, I think there are 26 now? So it would keep you busy.)

Any Pixar or Dreamworks film. A lot of them have adult humor and they often give you all the feels. I love UP, Despicable Me and Toy Story.

All-time Favorite: Gladiator; it has action, drama, suspense, romance.

Secretariat is also a good one, good for the kids and it tells an amazing story.. I'm not a big crier in movies but that one gets me every time.

Any Quentin Tarantino movie; not for the kiddos though! Kill Bill is super entertaining, Inglorious Bastards and Django are favorites. In Django, It was the best performance I have ever seen from Leonardo Dicaprio. There was even a scene in there where he broke a wine glass on his hand, it was bleeding quite a bit, and he just kept acting through it and they kept it in the film. It was only after the scene was over that they wrapped it up. He was definitely the memorable star of that movie.

Star Wars

Star Trek (newer ones with Chris Pine

Wonder Woman

AquaMan is a fun movie too.

La La Land, Very charming, well-directed movie.

Just to name a few..
