NJJ has a cousin that lost a BIL to the virus, I think it was week befor last that he pasted away from it. I think befor this is all over for this year we all will know of someone that has gotton really sick from it unfortunately.. I just wonder what next year will bring us "(
I think you are so right. One of my best friends lost his sister. She died alone in the hospital and was buried without a funeral. My nephew has recovered. The nursing home in my very small town has had 5 deaths and virtually residents are infected.
I think that this is just so sad and horrible that someone that has the coronavirus and is that sick and then dies, they have to do this all alone with out any family member with them, this is just so wrong, this is what scares me the most about this virus is that this person is alone the whole time if placed in a hospital and then it gets really bad and they die alone, this is just not right.
We're doing our very best to not leave our patients alone. We also got a bunch of iPads to be able to FaceTime family. It's not the same, but we are not just dumping people in rooms and leaving them!

It's supposed to hit 100° here next week. I hope it helps the curve flatten so our governor will open some businesses back up and people can get back to work.

Laura Ingraham brought that to light the other evening on her show. Not changing my mind.....I think this has everything to do with sanctuary cities and the infected migrants that have crossed into the U.S. and spread this disease at a huge cost to American citizens. 333 Chinese were stopped several weeks ago. How many do you think sneaked across before them.

Sorry if that came off wrong, I just came off 2 night shifts. I just felt you implied that these patients are completely alone, which they are not. I've witnessed some amazing things from my coworkers (not that they're not already amazing) in these times when patients can't have their family members present. One of my coworkers sat in a positive patient's room for over an hour at the end of her shift in all her garb just because she wanted to "hang out" with him because he couldn't see his family. Another nurse stayed late just to call the spouse of a patient to give updates and chat before she left. We've had nurses/aids rotate between sitting in a dying patient's room so that they weren't alone. I've fought and been able to get a few family members present for my own patients. We do these things anyway, without the no visitor policy but now it is an every day occurrence. The iPads are definitely not the same but we are making do the best we can. We are definitely not a family member to these patients but we care for them like they are our own because we know how hard it is.

We certainly appreciate what our medical professionals do, especially right now. Lula Bell is a nurse and I worry incessantly about her. . . God bless you all for being there. . . I absolutely agree about how heartbreaking it is for families not being able to be there for their sick or dying loved ones. My daddy had an unexpected outpatient procedure this morning, and Momma was able to get him signed in but then was sent to the car. It was scary but all is fine. We are blessed and we realize that with all that is happening in this world right now. Prayers for all

They are testing people who don't have symptoms and didn't know they had Covid19. So this proves the infection rate vs the death rate has been inflated. Add to that they are probably calling everything covid19 even when it's not, you have another inflated number of deaths.

It's worth keeping an eye on this. They are finding similar results with antibody testing in several areas...N.Y., LA, and Florida.
