There are plenty of female ropers. Breakaway especially. And plenty of good team ropers. We have a lot in our area who rope. I obviously never thought of men vs women in barrels OR roping. A barrel racer is a barrel racer. A roper is a roper. Doesn't matter what gender they are. To me anyways. Rodeo is the only sexist (or "traditional" ) organization out there. All the other barrel racing & roping associations allow both genders to compete equally. Maybe we need to banish the gender barrier in rodeo!!! DOWN WITH RODEO! After all, that's where guys (& ladies ) get it in their heads that guys rope/ride roughstock & girls chase cans, isn't it? (This wasn't being serious. But seriously, think about it. Rodeo is where these stereotypes come from ) I am not talking breakaway ... im talking team roping.. my point is.. senseless posts and there are 3 of them now or were..I dont think it was a big deal until you all made it.. LOL!.. Again. Read for compehension........ again heather you are confused.. my point is................ I'm not confused. And no one has made it "a big deal". I stated what I know in MY area, & NJJ showed up on her high horse looking to twist my words & prove me wrong (like usual ) & I just defended my opinion & observations. And then you do the same thing (as usual ) & so I have to try to explain to both brick walls what I meant. What is there to be confused about? Heather My comments were not to prove you wrong so drop your (once again) attitude..... My comments are my opinions there is a huge differance..simple as that. I do not apprecaite your name calling or referance of me at all though .

I actually make posts on threads that don't just bash other people. You, on the other hand, come on here JUST to spread your carp around. |

Location: Georgia | Here in the Georgia, it's a common occurance for a guy to win the barrel race. We run against Brett & Blake Monroe, Talmadge Green, Carl Wise, Kenny & Jamie Hodges, Craig Brooks....just to name a few. All of these men have won national titles. I think its ridiculous that people still have an issue with male barrel racers. This is modern barrel racing and guys are not only allowed, but they are dominating. |

This is what I mean by dominate. They win. And place. A LOT.
The last 3 NBHA world champions are men!
They're becoming more & more common. At the top of the world!!

Location: Virginia | its payday - 2013-12-28 10:12 AM Gotta come to HLynn's defense here because men are a big force in NBHA and in the futurity world. Someone posted the NBHA World Champions and said that it proved that men are not a force, but of 21 1D Champions, 11 were women and 10 were men... pretty even for the top rider, especially considering how dominant Hotshot was so the Steinhoff girls account for several of the championships. From Barrel Horse News 9/13 issue on 10 year statistics: 6 of the top 8 Leading Riders over the past 10 years are men with Troy Crumrine being the #1 money earner. These statistics include WPRA and NFR earnings.

  The Original Cyber Bartender
Location: Washington | I have lived in many area's and traveled a lot competing in our sport. No dening that men hold their own in the barrel arena. When words like "dominate" are used that is when you need to take your blinkers off. Women made the sport, and let's never forget that and they also win on all levels. There is not a true competitor out there that doesn't welcome all into the game.....but there is nothing wrong with some traditions.
With what is taking place with more and more rodeo's becoming invitationals there is a huge chance we will see men. But never forget that too is a double edge sword.
I am watching closely what Vegas is doing to position themselves for an invitational venue, if needed. I think they are watching what will take place in Arlington,Tx. with The American and how it is received. Changes for sure are heading our way.
Women have and will continue to be a driving force in barrel racing. Pretty sure men don't have a problem with that.
