There is a lot of phenomenal horse power and jockeys on that list! What's even stranger to me is seeing men on the list. I'm still old school- rodeo barrel racing is for the ladies. Personally I think it's great as I'm tired of hearing the whining about not letting the guys play. Well now they have played. You're right and looks like they got their butts kicked!!!!
Better look again. There were 3 men and 1 made it back in the top ten. Comparing the total number of men to women entered I would say that the men held their own. |

| Is anyone watching it now on RFD-TV? I wish they would keep people OUT OF THE ALLEY like on Morgan McDonalds run?!! AARRGGHHH!! Hate that! Last time I ran at Mesquite I had to dodge a baby carriage w/baby aboard! Right at the entrance of the alley! And Mom was the driver!! Come on people! Really enjoying this program though!

Yes I saw that Clint made it, but a whole lot of them tried to qualify, only three were able to, and the two that didn't make it were in the top of their field- Talmadge and Kebo |

| Mark Bugni is right up there too! He could have put it together just as likely. But hey, it's a horse race.... you NEVER know what's going to happen. I was crushed to see Kendals horse hit 3. Man, he was wanting it just a bit too much! What a shame.... |

I think if you compared the total number of men as compared to women that tried to qualify the number of men would be a fraction of the number of women that entered. I'm glad they let them enter. |

So am I. I'm tired of this "old school" stuff in relation to who can and can't compete. Welcome to 2014, where women can vote and men can run barrels at a flipping rodeo. |

She intends to be running in the NFR so commentating would be a little difficult. She was one out of running today at the AZ qualifier. |

| I agree about Fallon doing a great job commentating. She's been articulate at explaining the runs for lay people, yet is interesting enough for those of us who know whats going on. I think she has handled her comments on "difficult" runs, like Talmadges very well also. At the beginning of the program, I wish she had looked more into the camera when she was talking rather than at the other commentator, but I find a lot of inexperienced commentators do that. I bet she catches it, and corrects it. All in all, it was a VERY entertaining broadcast! |

RFD TV had it. You might be able to catch a rerun of it. |

Yes they did today. It just wasn't their day. Different day, could have been a much different results. I don't really think it is fair to assess that men cannot compete based on today's 1 run or this weekend. Looking at barrel racing as a whole (futurities, Jackpots, etc) I would say men and women are fairly equal. There are top men futurity trainers and top women. Their are men that top the NBHA Worlds and women. It just depends who is "on" that day or that particular weekend. If men were able to have the chance to compete all year like the WPRA women in that type of setting then the result may be different than what was seen today. It was certainly not for a lack of horsepower they didn't place higher. Talmadge just had some bad luck and you can't say he wasn't trying to go for it. I would bet we've all had those days at one point or another, just no one was filming us to broadcast on TV.
Same could be said about the girls under 18. None of them made the perfs. Does that just back up the stance about them not being able to compete in rodeos either and they don't belong competing against the women?
It is unfair to judge off of one or two runs. There were some weekends I've seen Sherry run somewhere and if you didn't know who she was, you'd think she didn't belong running with the top competitors either. Any given weekends, anything can happen.
