* Most of those numbers don't have any rodeo winnings in them before the last couple of years where they are trying to include rodeo winnings. They are missing all the small local races, amatuer rodeos and jackpots in the areas of the country that don't report to equistat. |

| NITAS WOOD- I have been training them for the last few years they can really run. Jackie Ganter was running "Woodys Wild Kiss"- he was a Nitas Wood. I am currently running one now and have more on the way. |

Location: So Cal | Ditto to whoever said Doc O Dynamite... Part of why I bought a filly out of a Doc O Dynamite daughter, she is also by a Dual Peppy/Mr Gunsmoke stud who has sired some nice barrel horses around here. Now if only I can keep her from following in my other horse's footsteps and continuing to hurt herself she will be awesome! Hope to be running later this year, she is a quick footed thing that turns out from under me trotting... Lol. |

Location: Down South Mississippi | BamaCanChaser - 2014-03-24 11:39 AM There are two Royal Fletch horses in my area that are very nice 1D supershow/rodeo horses. Here's an article BHN did about cow-bred horses succeeding at barrels. http://www.barrelhorsenews.com/articles/rodeo/3553-a-cut-above I wish I could get my hands on a Highbrow Cat, but all the really nice ones go to the cutting pen. Anyone know of any running barrels?
I just got a 2 yr grandson of High Brow Cat o/o a Cals Frost daughter in the barn to start |

| ksbarrelchick - 2014-03-24 3:22 PM Both of my horse's are double bred Doc's Prescription and I love them! They can be a little hot and stubborn but very smart and athletic, good bone and size to them too. I actually searched for another double Doc's Prescription when I started looking.
I've got a mare like this. Haven't started her because of so many outsides coming in and I got a Doc Olena bred gelding that was taller I personally liked. Docs skipped remedy is her name ( allbreed). |

They are missing all the small local races, amatuer rodeos and jackpots in the areas of the country that don't report to equistat. Ditto. My buckskin stud has over $30,000 of barrel earnings that were not recorded by EquiStat because he was running before they started recording pro rodeo money, & they don't include any open or amateur rodeo money earned. If you look him up it says around $6000 recorded which is not at all accurate. Some of our local shows in this area pay out very well and they are also not recorded. I won over $1200 at one local show last fall on one of my mares that was not recorded by EquiStat so that's a real bummer when it comes to try to document earnings.

Location: Lewisburg, Tennessee | Quick3 - 2014-03-25 1:57 PM I grew up riding cow or ranch bred horses but somewhere along the line, got away from them. Well, I'm back. I just lost a 5 year old who was Blue Valentine on top and Driftwood (Drifts Chip) on bottom. He reminded me why I love that type of horse. I just bought a 3 year old to start who is Dash For Perks and Sunfrost on top and Freckles Playboy, Doc Bar (Docs Last Chance) and King Glo on bottom. After just a handful of rides, I love him. Very smart, trainable, quick footed and willing. I'm excited to see what he will be.
Sounds just like my 5 yr. old gelding that's Dash for Perks and Raise Your Glass on top and Colonel Freckles and Wayward Win on the bottom - he's quick footed and willing....but very laid back. |

Location: North of where I want to be | I am LOVING this thread I have been running cow breds for years & being told they would never make barrel horses. I tried the race breds, I like them, but my cow breds have been my favorites, and gritty beyond words, with serious work ethic. |

I have to ask, who did you buy her from? Sounds like a pedigree that came across my place and we dont live far apart. I think cutters can be barrel horses. I have a Docs Stylish Oak/Smart Little Lena gelding that is pretty Dynamic. His second time entered at an ameture rodeo he clocked in the middle of the pack. If they have the look good chances are they can do it :) |

 Can You Hear Me Now?
Location: When you hit the middle of nowhere .. Keep driving | I have 2 like this. A full brother and sister. The filly is a 2 year old and is so smart and easy to work with. The colt is a yearling and I kept him back against my better judgement (I don't normally ride geldings). Both are people pleasers and super quick on their feet.
I love them both, and am super excited about them.

Location: Feeding mosquitos, FL | I just crossed over to the dark side myself. I've been riding a three year old cowbred gelding for the last couple of months and have fallen head over heels. He is smart without being too smart, easy to train, easy to live with, athletic and patterned in about six rides. I actually started teaching him poles and trail obstacles since he patterned so quickly and easily. Might have to start on reining patterns next.
He's Young Gun, Docs Prescription and Vibrant Chex. I'd take a barn full. |

Location: Central Texas | Yall give me such hope for my Peppy San Badger colt. He just made 2 and is at the trainers getting broke. I love the cow bred horses. We have a 28 year old double bred Doc Bar gelding who is still running barrels. He runs 2 seconds off at local and big shows. My mom had a vet tell her today he is in excellent condition and could run for a few more years. |
