They do it all the time in my neck of the woods. Very popular in garage floors. |

| Very beautiful, love how open it is. You are very talented. We are in the process of building, it will be beautiful but I had to hire a decorator and copy pictures, I have no talent :(.

| Forgot one other item that took "a bit" of time! lol
We put new steel on the roof but I didn't want it to be so shiny.....so we got busy dulling it down!
A pool made out of hay bales, a water proof tarp and 8 - 55 gallon drums of vinegar later we had dulled down roof tin! Waaalaaaahhhhh

That was sooo important to me.Β Β We have an old building at the farm that is the "catch-all" of parts and pieces that haven't been touched in decades.Β My days were full exploring that old barn and trying to find ways to re-purpose things.Β I had so much fun doing that.Β I wanted the stuff in our house to have a story behind it, not just something we bought off a store shelf.Β Of course there's some of that too but I wanted more 'depth" to our home if I could make it work.
We made or re-did almost all the light fixutures in our house.Β I refuseΒ to spend $750+ on a similar light fixture that's above our dining room table.....so I made one.Β I bought the light fixture at a thrift store,Β painted it, put bling on it and got the 4 steel rings from the scrap pile at a local steel fabricating business.Β Β I have less than $65 into that thing and I just love it.Β
Where there's a will, there's a way.Β It helps to be stubborn, bull-headed and determined.Β Oh and persistant, can't forget that one.Β

Ummmmmm no. I have zero qualifications to do this. Then again I did build a kitchen island for our old house. Does that count?!? This was my first "at bat" in designing a house.

Yup my SO is a plumber/heating specialist and does it all the time. In the cold north there isn't anything like it in a garage or shop. |

But I did hear rumor that you slept at a Holiday Inn Express!
I shared your pictures with my husband, his eyes glazed over when he saw the windmill head going up as a fan, I faintly heard him say BRILLIANT!
I started collecting old branding irons and my thought was I would use them in a staircase.....we got older and I have a lot of branding irons. lol Again love your place! |
