Location: Running barrels or watching nascar | I really don't follow any current styles although I did get into the bling thing and I have a breastcollar. I love my checkered patterned wraps and boots. I'm a NASCAR fan and I kind of like to put a little of that on my horses. No breastcollar on this particular horse because she runs better w/o one. |

It turned into an "in memory" in the process. I have a bronc halter, over/under, spur straps and stirrup hobbles that are all beaded inlay with buckstitch. My friend made all of it and I LOVE her work. It's fantastic. I am not a fan of the fringe. ESPECIALLY on a head stall or halter. Just NO. And the angora is hideous too. Can't stand it. Looks like one of those little ugly yappy dogs got glued onto a breast collar. Here are some photos of my tack set. thank you

I think it's a flashy, but subtle way to show color... especially when paired against dark tack. I agree with this but I think it would be pretty cool of they did colored buck stitching, like teal against black leather or black stitching on a light oiled leather saddle!

My bronc halter I had made is a beaded inlay with turquoise buckstitch around the edges.
Same gal made my tack set with the white buckstitch. She's very good at it and carries several colors.

Everything goes in circles so I really don't look at things as being fads as more as being in style.
I've never liked fringe whether it be on a horse or on a shirt. We all have individual likes and dislikes. It's what makes the world go round.
I second this.... As a custom tack maker I've realized you can't make everyone happy. That's why you build up a following and those people are going to like your stuff and the others may not. I just had a customer design her own set and when I posted it, it received more likes then anything I've posted. BUT just yesterday it was posted on this "tacky tack page". Which I could take offense to but guess what the customer LOVED it so that's all that matters. It's not something I would personally choose to offer as it is OUT THERE, but she wanted it. That's why I have a love hate relationship with custom orders. But as long as the customer is happy, everyone is happy!  |

| Honesty, I like the plain and simple leather with some color accents and maybe a inlaid pattern here and there.
The feathers are kind of stupid to me, on horse tack. I own feather earrings, and after only a few uses, they start looking pretty rough. I can only imagine how they start looking on tack. You'd have to replace them 3-4 times a year! I would never pay money for something like that.
My guess for the new fad is people are going to start shaving patterns on their horses rumps... I've already seen a couple around here. They're pretty. I kind of like it, lol but if did it, I'll probably just finger paint it on my boy.

Fringe would make my tank of a mare look even bigger, and she already looks really weighed down. haha I got this tack set at Josey Ranch, really nice set that isn't overly blingy.

Exactly!!! Purple isn't my thing either though haha! Am I the only one that will be happy to see the zebra fad going away?? I don't mind the leopard but never liked the zebra.

Location: South Dakota | My fear is that the next fad will be minimalist (I think that is a word) and we'll all be sitting there with our blingy tack. The kids will roll their eyes at the blingy tack like they do when they see pictures of clothes and hairstyles of the 80's--which I still love by the way, lol!

Location: Way up North | I don't think bling will ever go away, I think it is becoming slightly less popular but it won't go away, it will just be done in a different way. Everybody wants to be different so that's why we see 'fads'. People start doing it until it gets so over done it becomes mainstream and then we are on to the next big thing.
Feathers, tribal, aztec, skulls, hand tooled/painted, black leather, cooper; those seem to be the things really poping up on tack, saddles, even clothing. I'm seeing less inlays and super blinged stuff than a few years ago but there are still plenty of those out there. I think there is a transition from 'show' type tack to more good using stuff with flair. |

Her owner is hoping to breed her next year, I just love her to bits. She's a great mare. Not flashy bloodlines or anything, but a nice work ethic and beautiful conformation. She wins performance halter classes all the time. |
