Got a text today showing where Beyonce and Jay Z want to buy the rights to the Confederate flag----I'm guessing it won't be so they can proudly and prominently display it at all their concerts???? |

I live in the South -- very rural and Delta south. This afternoon driving home from work I drove past a house with a young black man -- an older teen -- standing in the yard waving a huge Confederate flag. I nearly drove into the ditch. Wish I had gotten video. He was smiling and waving the huge flag. What does that mean?
My (black) housekeeper said people had lost their minds and needed to get back to what was important in this country---her exact words were that flag is not evil and has never killed anyone, that it is the person that makes that flag evil or hateful. She's not offended by it---my son has one on his farm outside our house and one on his truck. She knows he's simply a proud Southern young man that sees that flag as heritage, not hatred. She'll also tell you quick young black men need to pull up their pants and get a job. And that "that man" shouldn't be in the White House. . . . |

Location: wherever my daughter's running | The Confederate Flag at the Statehouse in SC is coming down. The House gave the two thirds majority late last night. I am okay with this. If the flag had been flying since the Civil War I may feel diffetently. It was placed there in the 60's by Fritz Hollins, who was a democratic governor, as a response to segregation. I was alive then and it was a much different time then, just as it was a much different time when the South stood up for what it felt was right instead of being sheeple. As for all of the other knee jerk reactions going on all the way to D.C. Doing this is ramming this down the throats of many people. This is erasing history and that is not alright with me. It is a sad day in this country when individuals take it upon themselves to erase any portion of history. I am sure that many of those buried in federal cemeteries are rolling over in their grave. They fought for what they believed in - only to have their efforts erased. Thank you knee jerk people for this. NASCAR - erase your roots too. You have become way too big for your britches. It was the Southern moonshiners that made you the money making machine you are today. Think your fans sent you a little reminder of you political correctness. You may want to acknowledge that. |

The muslim temple wants the church to stop ringing its church bells on Sunday because they are offended!! If that was his goal, he's succeeded 100 times over. And if "they" (whoever "they" are) think that by getting rid of our CF that race relations are going to be solved. . . . Then they're idiots----the divide is wider than ever now. |

A local recently wrote a long wah-wah article for our local paper (Dumas Clarion). Among the excuses for why certain people are the way they are (no HS education...um, they have access to public school just like everyone else; high unemployment...there are jobs out there for many of them if they were willing to sweat), she actually 3 times stated that her disabled son "can't" have a service dog because black people are afraid of German shepherds. What? If she's not going to stand up for herself, you would think she would at least stand up for her kid. And IMO, saying black folks are scared of a dog is as racist as anything else you could possibly say. I completely lost respect for this person after reading the drivel she wrote. Making excuses and apologies doesn't help anyone, but she apparently thought she was enlightening the rest of us? I don't know, it was bizarre. |
