Yes I have.. he is good. My other gelding was boarded there for about a month so I stopped in at least weekly and checked on him. I just seen him last week. |

Location: California | Don't do it!!! I let someone try a horse for a little over a week, I got him back and this horse was an anxious ball and was all of a sudden hard to bridle?!?! I'll NEVER do that again!! Come and try them as much as you want, but I'll never ever lease before buying again.
Since being back with me, the horse is back to normal-- but it was upsetting for about a week the difference they made in him. And this was a completely signed/legal agreement. |

Location: Canada | HOOK UP THE TRAILER AND GET YOUR HORSE!!!!!!! This isn't a friend. A friend doesn't let another friend get jerked around and CERTAINLY doesn't let her friends horse be injected without permission.
Get your horse and get him now. If you don't have $1000 after five weeks they really can't afford the horse.
Stop waiting till the horse is injured or disappears. This isn't a good home bring him back and try for another home.

Cisco6340 - 2015-12-30 1:53 PM I wouldn't be texting anyone at this point. The horse would be back in my pasture and I would be done with those buyers. You are being way nicer than I would be after having my horse for 5 weeks. There is no excuse for this. Good luck and go hook up your trailer.
I chose to text so I have a trail of the conversation so nothing was he said/she said. Β :) Β
I get that....I just meant you need to just end this and go get your horse.
I hate to say this but a friend would not let you be taken advantage of in this way and if someone injected my horse without my consent I would not be happy to say the least and they certainly would not get reimbursed when I went to get my horse!
I can not believe these people or the person who is supposed to be your friend! |

Location: CTX | Please, for the sake of the horse, stop trying to find excuses for the broker and the buyer! There are too many red flags here... They have jerked you around for 5 weeks. If they can't come up with $1000 in that time they won't be able to properly take care of him. An old timer like that has special needs, his knee for one. But different feed also probably. Then they inject without your consent. And start buying stuff for him, tells me they already think he is theirs....
Go get the horse, before he gets hurt and you are left with a cripple (or worse) horse and a huge vetbill... I am sorry, but they most certainly do not sound like a responsible home....
No more texting, calls or whatever. Go get him.
And as for the broker, your so called friend, I would keep them at arm lenght, they do not have your (or even the horses) best interest in mind!
ETA, do not pay for those injections! You did not consent to them so it's on their dime!!!

| the only time I have ever asked for a "trial" period was when I ask if I could take the horse to my house on a Sunday afternoon, ride it, and take it to the vet mon morning for a prepurchase and I did that only because I honestly didn't trust the sellers. The horse had been sedated the 1st time I looked at it and I wanted to see the horse for itself and not have to worry about if it was honest or not.
That being said, there is no trial period due to liability. In the above situation if that horse would have gotten hurt in any way at my house, in my trailer- ect I would have been the new owner regardless. Too much risk there.... |

| Wonder if the buyer paid your friend for the horse but she kept the money. Especially after them treating him as their own. |

Location: Do I hear Banjos? | I know you are trying to do the right thing and you are in a tough spot because you have a good heart. Unfortunately...whether it's intentional or not...you are definitely being taken advantage of by either the prospective buyers, the broker, or both.
If you want to assume they are good intentioned but taking advantage of your patience and good nature...you could tell them you need to sell the horse and if they cannot pay for him now...you are coming to pick him up and will find a buyer yourself. That you won't ask for any lease fees for the time they have had him to ride/use. (And they dang well better not think they can charge you board, vet fees or ANYTHING else.)
You need a resolution to this deal. I know you don't want to be confrontational or burn a bridge with the "friend"...so you can do it nicely...but honestly...would you string a friend along as they have? I'm guessing not.

Location: Southeast Louisiana | To me, it's a huge red flag anytime someone says they will do something, then they don't follow through. They said they'd do something by the end of the week and they didn't do it. How can you believe anything else they say? They also said they would take good care of the horse and were using him only for trail riding, if I understood correctly from your posts. Since they lied about the payment terms, the other stuff they said may very well be false. If something came up, they should have gotten in touch with you to let you know and come to an agreement with everyone involved.
A good home is important to me, too. But, I wouldn't take their word for it. I would check on other places they've boarded and ask around about them and check with their vet as to the care of their other animals. Especially if you're giving them a deal on the horse. |

Great. Let us know what they decide to do.
I cannot believe they injected this horse that did not belong to them, without even asking you. Absolutely do not pay for anything.
It sounds to me like they were trying to see if they could inject him and run him, before they made the decision to purchase him. Doesn't work that way!

This would not work for me...JMO.....they have already proven that they will not live up to their obligations so a contract (or partial payment) will just be "moot". Then your only recourse is to sue for the money which will cost you more. I would pick up the horse and then they can have it back when the FULL payment is made within a certain number of days.....Otherwise, you are just asking for more problems should they not pay or the horse gets sick or injured.....QUIT BEING NICE ! ! |

Was wondering what part of the state you were in , if you were where it didnt take forever to get to I would offer to buy him from you and then find this horse a forever home. I sure do hope that you do go pick up your horse, your friend is not much of a friend to keep jerking you around this way, Shame on her for treating a friend this way.. If she was true friend she would have payed you for this horse and then get her money from these people. |
