I noticed that too; if you look where they were spooking you can see a yellow edge sticking out of a panel, so I'm guessing it was a sign of some sort. They need to take it down!
If Mary wasn't such a hand she would've been in trouble, Latte shied sideways pretty hard. |

Yep, I agree with labarrelrcr. In Mike Copeman's still photo - it just looks like a "bonnet" -- AND, it's probably just there to help the "handler in the alleyway" ! http://copemanphoto.smugmug.com/2013Rodeos/NFR-2013/NFR-13-1st-perf... |

Hard to say because they don't set the pattern exactly the same every year. Even in the WPRA official media guide they acknowledge that the pattern was different in certain years. The fastest time run in the T&M is Calree Pierce and a 13.46.http://wpra.com/pdfs/MediaGuideBarrelRacing13_3.pdfYoungest World Champion Ann Lewis*, 10 years old, 1968 LaTonne Sewalt, 11 years old, 1950 Jackie Jo Perrin, 13 years old, 1977 Charmayne James, 14 years old, 1984 (*Ann was killed, a car accident just prior to the 1968 NFR but maintained her lead, the world standings and was awarded the championship posthumously.)
Thats so sad!!

Location: Pineville, La. | They may need to stablize it a little better, to keep it from sliding, but I thought that apparatus worked well for her lunging issue. She was just ready to go and wanted to go on her own terms and not Syndi's, this deal did the trick. |

These two are suddenly my new favourite barrel horses and I have never seen them actually run before this round. That is how impressed I am with them both!!!!!!! |

Location: NE Texas | RoadToVegas - 2013-12-06 2:01 PM Herbie - 2013-12-06 9:58 AM Not me! That's dangerous not only to Sydni but to the other ladies, horses, and people down there in the alley. She definitely can do it, but absolutely would not be worth it to me to deal with that crap in the alley. Too many out there that you DON'T have to deal with that. I can handle on the muscle, but that crap is outright dangerous. JMO Too many out there you don't have to deal with that??? How many of these in your opinion could run against these NFR horses??? Yeah since they are SOOO common lol IDK, on like the other 14 horses. And i'm sure there might be onnnnnnnne more out there that won't try to kill you in the tunnel. Like I said, I don't mind one being on the muscle, in fact I prefer it, but I refuse to put myself or anyone else at risk for the sake of a dollar. Duke has always been on the muscle as well as several others through the years, and that's to be expected. But one that rears straight up with all that back there, coming through an overhead walk through gate.....no thanks. She's a helluva talented mare, and obviously there are lots of people who are willing to risk their safety along with the safety of others in the tunnel/warm up pen/etc., but not me. I have seen plenty of horses be on the muscle wihtout being dangerous.....and yes, some are even worthy of a trip down the tunnel and the T & M believe it or not.

Location: Central TX | I had a NICE mare that did the same...Big time rearer. couldnt run in her any pen where you had to go in the pen and start in there. always needed an alley or else id be right off. She was an absolute gem of a mare but many cudos to syd for being able to keep her cool thru that. its hard and can throw off your run BIG TIME! i ran the mare for 6 years so i eventually got used to it. She was dangerous but its a risk you either take or dont take and im glad i did. |
