| bingo - 2014-02-21 1:42 PM Is anyone watching it now on RFD-TV? I wish they would keep people OUT OF THE ALLEY like on Morgan McDonalds run?!! AARRGGHHH!! Hate that! Last time I ran at Mesquite I had to dodge a baby carriage w/baby aboard! Right at the entrance of the alley! And Mom was the driver!! Come on people! Really enjoying this program though!
Really! He is oblivious and walks right in front of her. Someone must have said something to him cause he gestures with his hands like what and shrugs it off. |

There is a lot of phenomenal horse power and jockeys on that list! What's even stranger to me is seeing men on the list. I'm still old school- rodeo barrel racing is for the ladies. Personally I think it's great as I'm tired of hearing the whining about not letting the guys play. Well now they have played. You're right and looks like they got their butts kicked!!!! Better look again. There were 3 men and 1 made it back in the top ten. Comparing the total number of men to women entered I would say that the men held their own. Yes I saw that Clint made it, but a whole lot of them tried to qualify, only three were able to, and the two that didn't make it were in the top of their field- Talmadge and Kebo I think if you compared the total number of men as compared to women that tried to qualify the number of men would be a fraction of the number of women that entered. I'm glad they let them enter.
Actually there were 4 men. Mark, Kebo, Talmadge & Clint. Clint had an awesome run to make it back & will be a definite force to be reckoned with. Kebo was 1 hole out of making the cut today. Talmadge obviously had some bad luck and has proven time & again he can hold his own & has probably forgot more than most of us will ever know about barrel racing, and Mark ran a horse he has never run before and did very well considering.
Congratulations & best wishes to all those that will run again this weekend & especially our own Nicole Love & Jet O Red, who up until last month, had never been to a rodeo! |

I'm glad to have the guys running, but it was kinda cool that 4 tough guys couldn't out run my favorite barrel racer June Holeman........go June! I think she's almost 70, or is she already 70? |

| JMO, but I don't think it has anything to do with how many women were there compared to men. The only thing you're running against is the clock. The women had nothing to do with them hitting a barrel, almost falling off, or just not being fast enough. |

Not to mention these 4 men don't have opportunities to compete in rodeo arenas. That was a whole new atmosphere for them and their horses. That ground was probably difficult for them to jockey around. |

What was different about the grounds and conditions from a futurity orbig 4D and a rodeo other than having the cattle and livestock on the grounds? I only got to see some of the roping at the very end. There wasn't much of a crowd and it seemed pretty quite. It looked like jackpot, 4D, and futurity like conditions as far as crowd, arena, and noise.

From Jordon Briggs FB page
"Jordon Briggs It was very hard and sticky! Hard to find the timing with it." She also mentioned she got off Patron and got on Zena because Patron hated the ground during practice.
I wish I could find the picture I saw earlier on Facebook. It wasn't pretty groomed ground like Open/Futurity people are spoiled with :)

| What kind of dirt is in that arena for it to be hard and sticky?
I assume they don't have a big grounds crew there to work the ground. |

| The BBR crew was there directing the drag, but the ground was not a barrel race/futurity type ground. It was red clay, sticky with big clods and rocks in it. So it didn't matter what kind of drag they did, it was just icky.
I've run at that arena a few times, and it is weird. You have to run in it regularly I think to get it down. There was one that ducked off, 2 that went on the wrong side. No falls, but I think it was because they were stuck to the ground. Even with a few practice runs it would be tough. |

Location: Dubach, LA | I was watching, not running, but the dirt didn't seem at fault. It was *alls to the wall rodeo. No finesse or technique - just speed. Almost had a futurity air to it.
I was super-duper proud of Robyn and Happy.

If I were interested in raising colts, he would be at the top of my list. He is gorgious and runs a pretty darn good set of barrels. He only beat everybody. lol
He sure impressed the heck out of me. It doesn't look like he's trying hard either it just comes natural. |

I asked this the other day too. She finished after the NFR out of the top 10, tried to qualify in AZ and didn't make it. |

Location: Texas | It was a pretty quite crowd and not a lot of stumbles by any of the horses. The ground looked pretty good and they were dragging every 5. You don't see that at any rodeos around here. Without the bucking stock in the pens in the back and the chutes, I don't think it was much different from futurity setting. At least there wasn't big rocks in there like I have seen in that arena after a monster truck even in there. The NFR girls may have a big advantage in the final at Jerry's World. They have pretty much seen everything. |

Location: Riding Crackhead. | The finals will be in a much smaller arena? or will it be comparable to what we saw today. I'm trying to think how big a pattern you can set on a FB field. |

I thought they were going to divide the stadium into two arenas-don't know any more than that. We were told that when buying tickets. |

Who knows what the heck they are planning. That place is so big, it is definitely big enough for 2 arenas, but why? |
