Location: So. Cali. | I always have a regular O ring snaffle, a twisted O ring snaffle, and a Jr Cowhorse. From there is just depends on the individual horse what the next bit will be. Pads...when I'm rich I'll invest in a 5 star. I currently have a best ever, todd sloan, two Professional Choice regular nothing special western pads, and Classic Equine Bio Fit. Oh! And a BOT western pad. The best ever broke down quick in the shoulders, the Todd lasted a bit longer. The Professional Choices take a daily beating. The CE Bio Fit is for my 'special' mare. And the BOT goes on everyone for daily work.

Where can you hide a helmet? Under a wig? Get a bigass cowboy hat? Bandana? |

My theory is YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO HIT THE BARREL! Hasn't always worked for me, but if I protect my legs then I probably woouldn't care as much and would continue in a pattern of doing so.
I rock the miss-matched stuff because I can never decided when I'm at the store what color I want to go with...unless something is on sale, then the decision is pretty easy.
PM me, if you want to, with things you are looking for. I know right now I have an extra headstall, an extra loose ring snaffle bit, extra reins, extra halter...maybe some other stuff too, that I have been trying to get rid of because I am tired of it sitting around. They are all used, but are in good condition and are useable!

Now, has anyone ever tried to crochet a saddle pad??? Is that possible?
On a serious note, you can get rovings of wool and rug hook a saddle blanket.
Learned how to do it in 4h |

A nice set of split reins, I don't buy over the Internet, I have to feel them.
Ed wright saddle pads are good, and not that pricey. I would rather invest in a better quality pad as I will save money later on down the road.

Location: Minnesota | I have a few sets of reins I could send you if you'd like.
RS Saddlery has nice tack and its very affordable. I have a breast collar and headstall from them and its held up great.
I use a Diamond Wool Pressure Relief Pad and recently ordered a Cutter Classic Saddle Blanket.
I agree with getting yourself a good pair of leather split reins. I have a pair that just mold to my hands and I love them. |

| I am going to suggest the CSI saddle pad...
Now at first you may get sticker shock, but here are some things to think about....
This saddle pad retails for about $350.00, BUT it has a reversible felt pad on the inside. So you rotate it every few years....then-when that gets worn out you can purchase replacement felt inserts for only $120...the top part of the pad with the flex plate has a lifetime guaruntee. So this pad costs something up front, but will last you YEARS and the extended cost is much less than purchases an expensive saddle pads more frequently. |

Location: Southern Pennsylvania | I stalk BHW tack sales and Facebook tack groups (and clothing swaps). It is cheaper to buy quality leather tack and add your own "bling" if that is the look you prefer. I'm the queen of finding stuff on sale. $25 MM jeans and a $30 bridle (that's worth over $100) Heck Yeah!!! Also, I'm sure the girls on here won't hesitate to donate. I have a ton of crap lying around. If you need something specific just ask I'm sure someone will have an extra one that they can give you (or sell really cheap)!
Here are a few of my favorite FB groups.
