scwebster - 2014-09-08 8:58 AM Cash Gay Leo, an own son of Hank Leo was standing in the Garrison TX area. I believe he may have been sold, but that ranch offers  other old, foundation lines as well. Greer Quarter Horses can be found on the web. I have a mare that came off her place. Pedigree below.

Slide by leo.... .I have a mare in foal to him for 2015. He is an own son of Lad Leo.  "Sly" has 7 ROMs in reining, barrels, poles, and the stakes race. He was also an open rodeo money winner and a multiple national high school rodeo qualifier in barrels and poles with a few different youth riders. He has even out produced himself. His foals are WPRA Rodeo money earners, placed in college rodeos and have had multiple 1D wins and placings at some pretty big shows. His foals are smart, athletic and easy to start. Hes owned by flaten ranch in Sparta WI.

As an "older" person, I was privileged to own some super nice very up-close Leo horses. They were solid and sound. Great bone and great feet. They were very balanced and had good minds -- liked to work. Loved having a job. But I must say their heads were not the prettiest I've seen; however, that was not an issue for me -- they were not jug-heads just not as refined as we see today. One was my cutting horse and he could do about anything -- even jumped on him for a imprompty western pleasure class one time - they wanted more entries and I had hauled him just to have him there to ride around -- to go and not have to perform.... anyway, we won the class! Another was a super nice barrel and pole horse. The only year I hauled him in college we finished 2nd in our region. I think that old blood is good to introduce and cross on some of the new lines... to get some of that bone and good feet back.... and those minds....

http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/sugar+bar+honor

Where is this guy at???

We used to stand One Sugar Bar by Sugar Bars many moons ago. I just lost the last son of his last year. Everything on my place is Sugar Bars or double bred sugar bars. It's cool to see that there are still those out there that respect the old blood.

I'm keeping 2 colts out of the last crop for potential studs (if they continue to deserve to be studs). One is double bred sugar bars and the other is sugar bars X daughter of dash ta fame.

Sugars Bars..... love that line.... what a horse he was!!!

I've got a mare off of this stud. Would a 68 crossed on an 84 model be considered old breeding. Her great great grandfather is Johnny Dial who I recently heard produced some good barrel horses, but before the internet times and I haven't found much on them- http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/millers+genuine+cat

I LOVE old lines!! I look at them before the new and "designer" lines.fo4 some reason the classic lines have it all for me. Athletics, conformation, good feet, smart, and heart! My 2 right now have some good 'ol lines.

The full brother to Clifford (http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/behold+he+reigns) is still a stud at Hamilton, KS. Not sure if Tom breeds outside mares or just a few of his own these days though. I can't remember Cliff's brother's name but he would also have Hempen on his papers, and Tom has a full sister to their mother still in his broodmare band. Go Power Sis I believe is her name. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/go+power+sis

ETA - I found Cliff's brother on Allbreed -- http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/behold+his+power

If anyone has an AQHA membership and would like to look I would be curious to see if my geldings sire was still alive and breeding. This is my gelding http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/gators+red+hornet I would LOVE to have a daughter out of his sire.

Last registered foal crop was 2002

There is a mare by a son of Lad Leo selling at a ranch production sale next month here. She's out of a Tiny Watch, War Chant mare. She'll be cheap, she's 19 now.

I don't have a stud with "old breeding", but I do have a broodmare that is out of a AAA son of Easy Jet, and by an own daughter of Triple Chick. Her dam is also out of an own daughter of Joak, 2nd dam is by an own daughter of Leo Tag.
