Since the lion was not killed on US soil, what US laws can be applied? If he brought the remains to the US does that open the door for US law?

I am sad so many are so upset about the lion's death yet not as upset about the horrid actions by Planned Parenthood selling fetus parts and pieces. That reeks to me of the holocaust when Nazis were experimenting on live humans and using body parts for experiments.... very disturbing.

I'm sorry... Can you point me toward proof that money changed hands except for this edited video?. Got receipts? Proof of money transfers? ANYTHING??? I promise the feds want to see it.

Irrelevant, as far as I'm concerned.

I've noticed how much you like to ignore facts that don't align themselves with your point of view... Thus they become irrelevant.

How is my calling your statement irrelevant considered "ignoring the facts"?
Care to explain? What "facts" am I ignoring?

Sorry... I misspoke... I should have called it "lack of facts"... since all we have is an edited video from an anti-abortion group.. I'll say it ONE more time... If they felt the need to edited that video.. there has to be something they don't want us to hear...

The unedited videos are posted on their site. They have over 300 hours of tape and nine more videos to release.

The guides have been arrested and are out on bail.  We may never know if the dentist knew but I tend to think for 50k you scout and pick the lion you want.   Also the fact that they tried to destroy his GPS collar instead of going to the authorities "when he discovered it had a collar" is a guilty act. It could have just been a reaction or it could be he didn't care, he got his trophy.

When you're bow hunting you're close enough to see a collar when you let that arrow go. "Discovered" he had a GPS collar my butt. You're so right, Rodeomom3, guilty act.

And did I read that it was FORTY HOURS later before they finally killed him with a gun???

This isn't his FIRST time to kill outside of a regulated area.....He was prosecuted for killing a black bear illegally in WI a few years ago....

eta: I loved what Jimmie Kimmel said last night........

Count Kimmel among the outraged and he used his late-night show to condemn the dentist, asking “is it that difficult for you to get an erection that you need to kill things that are stronger than you?” The comedian was so upset, he even teared up as he called on people to make donations to the Wildlife Conservation Research Unit at Oxford, saying he wanted to turn the story into a “positive” one.

Jimmy kinda hit ALL the high points!

komet. - 2015-07-30 6:21 PM    Well.. you can go ahead and stick your head in the sand as deep as you want.... This was going on long before.... even antibiotics.... If someone wants it bad enough... they will get it.... This is all about religion.... Well I have news for you.... There are a whole bunch of people out there that will die before they answer to your God... Just like they will die before they will answer to Allah. This country was based, (in part) on freedom of religion... and freedom not to have to answer to it... Enough people were burned at the stake for heresy they got tired of it!!

This isn't about religion.  It's about conscience.

geronabean - 2015-07-30 6:47 PM There are only a limited amount of causes I can support in my busy self absored life.

If I comment on one in that doesnt mean I dont care about others.

With that disclaimer I will say:

Drop the dentist off in the middle of the reserve for a little lion payback.

I think you just summed up my entire disgust.

Given the chance, that lion would certainly have eaten the dentist and nobody would care.

barrelracr131 - 2015-07-30 4:31 PM How did this thread go from lions to cops to abortion?

Exactly. Happens on FB too.   I’ve seen all the conversations  expressing outrage on every topic on the planet compared to this lion topic, aka this thread, and it’s so annoying.  OF COURSE there are other topics to be outraged about and it’s all relative to what you are passionate about it.  But, talking or expressing concern/outrage/disgust about one topic doesn’t mean you are less concerned/outraged/disgusted by another.  Bring up a new topic/thread and we’ll discuss or beat that one into the ground as well.

In AR and in most states, killing an animal wearing a collar (which means it has radiotelemetry on it)  is illegal.  Also federal and state falconry law require falconers who capture a raptor weariing radiotelemetry to release the bird.  To much money, time and effort goes into tracking a "radiotelemetry-ed" animal to allow it to be removed from the population.  It is illegal for a lion wearing a tracking collar to be shot.

Daughter's aussie is laying right by me and I can't see her collar well for the hair, I can't imagine what it would be like trying to see a collar in a lion's mane.
It's all a matter of perspective and I personally feel as if there are more important things to worry about.  I always root for the hoofed ones anyway.

Agreed. This is Jericho on the left and Cecil on the right. Both these lions are collared. Can you tell?

why does it matter to people whether others are passionate about this ?its better then being complacent.. or Not caring about anything...
If everyone didnt care about it there would be many more endangered species and evne the protected ones would be shot.. People have a right to stand up and try to make a differance in anything. It doesnt mean the other is any less wrong or thought about .. there are many things we can passionate about or disgusted with and our voice needs to be heard.. whether thats Planned parenthood, abortion, Pro horse slaughter , Horse feed companies and the monensin issue, killing protected animals , etc.. if Noone said a word about ANY of it .... it would never get the attention it needs and laws wouldnt be changed or at least redone..
as far as this lion... yes its absurd and wrong and something needs done.. and its all over the place (peoples voices and opinions) .. same as the Planned parenthood. its all over media.. I feel yes its more important ( planned parenthood )but I still will voice my opinon about the lion and the laws.. I think if you let ONE or TWO get away with stuff like this... they all will.. it has to stop somewhere or start with our voices..I dont post videos about Planned parenthood because it bothers me so much.. so Ill read and listen to others when they post them.. some cant handle it but doesnt mean I dont dispise that situation or think less of it.. its horrible and I hope they get punished to the fullest extent..
