Location: Arkansas | I've never heard about burning the nerves like that. I have spasms in my amputated leg. It isn't phantom pain, but actually in my leg. I never know where in my leg they'll happen, when it'll happen, how long it'll last, or how bad the episode will be. I usually compare it to a burning knife being stabbed in my leg and someone just digging it in. Years ago I went to a neurologist who said he could go in and cut that nerve, but he could not guarantee I would ever be able to wear my prosthesis or walk again. Or that it would even take away the pain. . . . I just couldn't make my mind up to take that risk, so I've lived with it for 30 years. I know it's not the same thing as you because I don't hurt all the time, but I just wanted you to know that I do understand about trying to decide what's best for you and having questions about your options. Trust your instincts (and make sure you trust your doctors) and I pray that this gets worked out soon to give you relief and let you be able to ride |

Location: California | You have all my respect for dealing with all your issues too! They may not be the same but that doesn't make them inferior at all! How you explained your pain is exactly how I explained the pain from after my adjustment actually!
I'll be asking for a referral to get another opinion. I just dont see how in the long run injections or burning the pain signal nerves are a good idea. Maybe I'm just over thinking it all idk. All I do know is I refuse to let this stop me finish my dream with Ace! I am WAY too close to give up now. Realistically sending him out to be legged back up and then advertised for sale makes the most business sense but I'm just not ok with that. So as of now my plan is to get back to riding him, even if its just lightly, and hopefully in February send him to the local trainer that has already helped me so much! If she feels her time is best spent on refining his basic riding skills and thats all she does for a month then thats fine. If she actually works on the barrels too thats even better. I think if i just get a little extra help to push him along and fill in some holes I know he has then I should have an easier time continuing on with him. Ace is EXACTLY what I hoped for when I bred his momma. I just need a little more determination and to show as much grit as his momma. Lol

Location: Arkansas | I think you're showing lots of grit----you keep it up girlfriend!!! And it thrills me that you're leaning more towards keeping him and doing what you need to do to keep YOUR hopes and dreams with him alive
I read your other post on breeding Serenity (no help there cause I'm clueless!!) but I hope you are as pleased with that baby as you are Ace.
Keep us posted and if you need some encouragement or to fuss or to cry---I'm here. . . . |

Thank you! Next week I'm off Wednesday and Thursday so if the weather cooperates I plan on riding! I'll aim to get a video so everyone can see just how laid back Ace is after time off. Lol
I'm also starting a supplement and was given a natural pain relieving cream to try so we shall see how those go! |

Location: California | WOO-HOO!!!! Howelling Corona has been on the Future Fortunes waiting list for 3 years and as of March next year with the change of their rules he will be nominated in!!! Howelling Corona is BBR Stallion Stakes already and will be Future Fortune!!!
I have ridden Ace a few times now on the barrels and that kid hasn't forgotten ANYTHING!!! The reality is I need help getting him in shape, once he's back in consistent work I should be able to maintain him but getting him in shape is the struggle. So, I will be sending him to the local trainer I ride wit in February for her to help get him back in shape and to fine tune him some for me to make it a little easier on me. I REALLY can't afford this right now as good trainers are never cheap, but it will help me stay on track with my goals and I can go over and watch and ride with her whenever I can. |

Location: California | Well. Mr Ace heads to the local trainer I had been riding with all year for at least 30 days on February 1st. The hope is that she can help me get Ace back in shape and do some fine tuning on him and HOPEFULLY that will make it easier on me to continue with him. I'm really going to aim to have them with her for 60 days but she's not cheap. Lol
*ETA: My main doctor put in a referral to a different spine Dr for anot her opinion on my back. So we shall see how that goes.
No great pics to share but here's a photo sequence of why.... (the pony looks a bit rough. I'm fixing someone else's feeding mistakes.)

Location: California | Mr Ace was dropped off with a local trainer that I was hauling to and riding with and trust 100%. I'm excited to see how he progressespecially and pray this will make it easier on me. I'll be checking in regularly and getting videos when I can ;)
Ace before he left
Willow making sure "her" horse ate all his dinner.
Our last ride before he left
(I do NOT like the set up of our new place and no Ace was not left unattended by the chain link fence. That was the only place available to tie him that is out of reach from the other horses.) |

So far I haven't even recieved a phone call from the other dr. I was recommended by a friend do who's husband just had sugary for the exact same thing to a Dr further away but better then the ones in town. I sent that info to my main dr to hopefully get a referral. My massage therapist is also trying some things to see if we can avoid surgery. All the muscles in my upper back are pretty screwed up so it's taking time and waaayyyy too much money but it's helping. I just can't afford to go as often as I should be. Sending Ace out isn't really an expense that was planned or that should be happening but his my sanity so that's my justification. Lol |

Location: California | This is the face I was met with when I went to see him yesterday. Pretty sure he's not impressed with me! Lmao. Ace has had it pretty easy since the end of last summer. As my back pain increased I started to back off of riding. Since October 16th he's been ridden a handful of times. Now he gets "abandoned" with a trainer who really makes him work. Lol
My Dr went ahead and called in the referral to the other dr I was recommended to since the other referred dr she had previously called in hasn't contacted me. We will see what happens. |
