| streakysox - 2017-12-03 10:32 PM want2chase3 - 2017-12-03 8:09 AM I'm feeling a whole bunch of different emotions this morning. I suppose it's because lack of sleep. I've been pretty steady up until now. He's doing better, we actually made it thru the night without fever so that's great! I'm really hoping today is the day we go home. I'm sorry but this place may end up being the place I can freely vent. I'm trying to focus only on my son and getting him well. But as some of you know I do have an ex husband, my son's father.. of course he's been here, which I want. But he's being so over bearing, I'm sure it's his way of dealing with it. We don't have the best past but all that aside now that we are fighting for our sons life. He was here last night with his current girlfriend and I just felt out of place. My husband had gone home. I feel sad that no one from "our side" has come visit us in here, but lots from my ex side has been here, I'm grateful for the visitors for my son it makes him happy. One of my sister in laws that I thought I was the closest to hasn't even called or text me since we found out... I was on fb last night and saw that she had posted pics of her, her husband some mutual friends of ours and my husband having a good time down at her house and wrote great family night having fun! And of course they were all cutting it up drinking and taking lots of pics. I felt angry at first, then hurt. I kept reminding myself this isn't about me or how I feel, shift focus on my son. It's going to be a learning curve for me to put my blinders on and ignore the unimportant things and people. My son needs me to be 100% focused on him and his journey. Sorry, I'm just venting here I'm sure I'm a bit under slept and stir crazy being inside this room all the time. I plan to go home as soon as his father gets here so I can clear my head, get a hot meal and shower before I come back Please remember that different people handle stressful situations differently. That being said, remember the song YOU FIND OUT WHO YOUR FRIENDS ARE? It does hold very true. I have been in your shoes. I also want to add, if you need help from someone ask. If you have a true friend, they will help. I will tell you that you cannot do everything yourself.
Ditto, I also would suggest buying a notebook to make notes from doctor consultations and exams, results of testing, log his fevers etc. it is so much information to take in and digest there is no way to remember it all. Continued prayers |

Thank you everyone for the prayers. Honestly my crying jags happen throughout the day, when I'm alone. I did get pretty teared up today when I dropped my other two children off at school, I'm so use to seeing jacob walk away from my pickup. It was a tough moment for sure. He's really doing awesome today... no fever so far, had a little one trying to creep up on us last night, but we've got it under control now. He slept all night without incident I was up every 2 hours taking his temp. Our little community is nothing short of amazing, his classmates and teachers are wearing t shirts that say # Jacob Strong it warms my heart at the amount of support and generosity of our little town. Everyone's pulling for him. I just know he's going to win. |

?What else can you tell us about Jacob? What are his hobbies? Favorite foods? Does he like rodeo? Baseball? Football?

He loves baseball, absolutely loves it. His team won 3 championship rings last season, he played 3rd base, catcher, 1st base and even had his hand at pitching. He likes to watch football not so much play it anymore. He likes to watch bull riding sometimes too. He's not much into the horses but every once in a while he will want to ride one around the pasture. That kills my husband because jacob CAN rope. He's like a total natural with the rope and the dummy. Even if he goes months and months without picking up a rope, he can go out there and catch every single time lol! Maybe some day I can get him to riding more. He's a huge animal lover and has the biggest heart when it comes to them, he's one of those that'll cry when the humane society shows those horrible commercials on tv. He just can't imagine why anyone would want to harm an animal. I love that about him. He loves his family very much. He has his share of bickering with his younger brother, who's 6 but they play and get along more often than not. His big sister has stepped up like I've never seen, she's been by his side since we found out. She even stayed overnight in the hospital with me one night to help care for him, she's 13. |

| His favorite food, I'm going to say it's my loaded baked potato soup, which I have in the crockpot right now for him. It's usually the only thing he requests when he wants something specific lol! He's a typical kid, loves his share of junk food too, and taco bell. He's so extremely thin right now, it almost makes you gasp when you see him.. he's always been on the smaller side but he's really really thin now.. trying to put some weight back on him, his appetite is picking up slowly though.
He loves his school teacher too, his little face lit up when she came to see him. He also loves his schools HS football team, he has a goal of getting to run thru the blow up tunnel they run out of at big games lol! All he talks about is that darn thing, even asked for 1 for Christmas lol! |
