Jake made THIS thread to have chats WITHOUT political interjections ...... can we PLEASE keep it that way ?????
HER WORDS ....... "Hoping to keep this post more than civil, less than political, feel free to add how your city is doing, and basic chat"
This is something we need to be keeping informed about and is very important.
And there are 3 or 4 OTHER threads that you can post on ..... |

Location: Illinois | We got the statewide shelter in place order on Saturday for 2 weeks, but it didn't change anyhting. The only businesses that really closed from that were salons, gyms, movies, etc. Pretty much everything else is still open & everyone is still going to work. Not entirely sure what the point was |

It's different for various locations of the country depending on the hot spots. |

Yeah we're on "lockdown" because of Chicago. But the order excludes just about 98% of businesses, so they basically just said "hey if you can, please stay home as much as possible." Instead of putting a shelter in place order they could've just closed the specific businesses down that were added to the bars/restaurants being closed. Pretty much all stores are still open and there's no change in the number of people out & about. We're just not supposed to form in social groups I guess. Everyone is still going to work per usual here |

I'm near topeka, KS. Lots of panic buying still, all restaurants/bars closed except for drive through...no dine in. I work in the emergency room, we haven't had a positive case in our county yet, lots of people panicked and started flooding into the ER, overwhelming us and the hospital up the street. Most of the respiratory, if negative on the respiratory panel have been told to self quarantine for 14 days at home. They upgraded the rooms in the PCU (step down unit of the ICU) to be negative pressure rooms in the event of a positive COVID case. Thankfully all negative. Just overwhelming, stressful, exhausting at this point, and we are so short staffed it's not even funny.
May I thank you for your work. Today you are as much as heroes as the military.
Absolutely agree--thank you. I never thought much about our nurses and doctors and other medical professionals and what y'all deal with until now. . . With my DIL working ICU in a hospital where one person has already died from this--certainly brings it home. So thank you again to all of our medical personnel who are standing toe to toe with this; I pray protective barriers around each of you |

The number of cases in Arkansas is rising, still no deaths that I am aware of. Restaurants are drive thru/take out only. Our life hasn't changed much, I still have to work (vet) and we still have to feed cows and horses. We don't do a lot outside of the farm anyway. Our freezers are full and I have been able to find most things I need at the grocery store.
The horse sales are shut down and that is one of our only activities (sad, I know), except for eating out. I have to cook more, which I hate but the hubby cooks quite a bit too. My first foal of the year was born yesterday, so that is a plus.
I saw where it was announced we (AR) are gonna get .92% of the national supply of PPE and equipment, etc. . . I pray this ends quicker than hoped and that more supplies become available for our medical professionals everywhere. |

Location: My happy place | I would also like to thank all those working on the front lines. I feel so sorry for those that have to work. Apparently I did a bad thing today I colored my hair (from a box) and then got brave and cut my bangs. Which is really brave if you have ever seen me with sissors. Every hairdresser on my Facebook page was warning it would be terrible. Won't bring politics in but I have friends who want to get together and go trail riding at a state park. I know I can social distance while doing it but I just think it's wrong. Only have to trailer 15 miles but IMO it just sets a bad example. I'm not going stir crazy yet and if I want to ride I can do it here. I have lots I can do here if it's a pretty. I know most of these people have not been staying home and I have. Our state also has shut down on unnecessary travel, I just don't feel it is necessary. I guess I am The Fun Police. What do you think?

I have the best hair guy. Because of my c.o.p.d. he is having me come to the salon before normal hours so he can give me a perm before anyone gets there. God Bless Him. |

I have always cut my own bangs, might look alittle wonky for a week but they always grow out and then they look pretty good, lol..untill its time to cut them again. I stoped coloring my hair 20 years ago, I like my gray/silver hair, I earn it, lol. |

Location: Arkansas | Along the hair dresser line. . . One of my best friends found out today that she's been shut down until further notice. She's a barber. She texted me just now and said she feels like she's been fired from a job she loves. I feel so sorry for her. Even though her husband works, they need 2 incomes. I feel so blessed that I don't have a house or vehicle payment right now. My heart hurts for all that's happening around our country. I know this is supposed to be a more lighthearted thread, sorry

My heart hurts right along with you. Just got off the phone with one of my friends discussing just what we could do to help out. I really have a problem donating to certain charities because of their paid employees and perks. I like to watch people in the grocery store, usually I do it around Christmas and Thanksgiving. When I find someone only buying the necessities, usually with kids or older people who look like they need help, I buy their groceries. I know it's not much but at least I know the person who needed it got it. Maybe hard to do since I won't be going out much but when I do I will be looking. Just my idea or grocery gift cards to people you know need it but are too proud and hard working to ask. |

Location: Pelham, TN | I live in Middle Tennessee and the Governor has asked for voluntary shut down. One person in our little county has passed away. On the bright side I look around the farm here and find plenty of projects that are cost free that have been put due to our barrel racing addiction!!!LOL So please be careful and take this serious!!! Prayers for things to return to the new normal soon!!!! |

My hair guy is worried about that to. There will be a meeting tonight to discuss if hair places should be closed. I know they are disinfecting everything. So I might not get my appo tomorrow morning. If so, I will just let my hair run wild. |

All business' that can have employees work from home are. Take out or delivery only for restuarants. Schools are shut down minimum of 2 weeks (depending on county/school district). Nonessential travel on the roads is banned too. They want everyone to just stay home that can. |

I work on a pcu/covid floor. We currently have the floor divided into half. Normal and testing for covid. We have 4 neg airflow rooms but plans are in the works to make more, I believe. Our hospital has a phone line strictly to answer calls about covid and to screen so our Ed isn't being filled with unnecessary visits. I think our ed numbers have dropped. they're pulling staff from gi lab, pacu, and or that used to work on our floor to come back and give us some relief. There was talk of cross training other floors (short stay, ortho neuro) to take our normal patients but they're freaking out. I have to say my boss has done an excellent job in staffing us. Our normal grid is out the window. This is just the beginning. |
