Location: Louisiana | My husband and I visited with Chelsea and her mom Sally last Saturday. I was thrilled with the way Chelsea chatted with me! She has come so far since going to rehab! Right now, she is going through an emotional time, which I think is normal for people with this sort of injury. I think she must have told her mom "I love you, Mama!" at least a dozen times while we were there. She also said she is lonely and wants to go home. I told her she is doing great and needs to stay there a while longer and work hard to get better. She said, "Yeah, that's what they tell me." We talked about her horses, and I asked which one she likes best. She thought and replied, "Well, that is a hard question. I really like my young horse, and he is doing so good! But my gray horse has been with me since I was a little girl, and I love him! So it's hard to say which one is my favorite." This reply told me much more than the simple words. It told me that she remembers and she is using her brain to really think about her answers. I have to admit that there was a time after her injury that I never thought she'd come this far in her recovery. But I am here to tell you that she HAS come this far, and I look forward to her progressing every week until she is well. Chelsea was still in bed when we arrived that morning, and she wasn't thrilled about having her picture taken before her shower and all. But I did take one of her with the stuffed lamb that I gave her. I have to upload my trip photos and will post it ASAP. Please continue to pray for Chelsea. She needs some extra prayers to deal with her emotional stress at this time. As I said, I think this is a normal part of recovery from a brain injury, but it is a difficult period for her. So let's lift Chelsea's spirits with our prayers. |

| Still praying for you Chelsea and I look at your progress every day on here and on caringbridge. I know you don't know me and probably don't even remember me. But, I care so much about you because you worked so hard for me when you were in the hospital and I could see determination in your eyes. I still want you and your mom to come see me at LSU when you get home. Keep working hard because I know it will be worthwhile in the long run. Stay strong and think about where you want to be in the end. And, keep praying because you know God can and will take care of you. Tell your mom and dad I said hello or vice versa to whoever is reading this.lol..Ya'll all have come so far and I am so very thankful.

Grit is absolutely right the emotional problems are part of the injury, unfortunately that alone can slow you down. It is another situation that needs to be dealt with. Chelsea keep up the great work and we will all keel praying for you!!!
All of this works out and before you know it you will be home and things will all start falling into place.
We love you girl!!!! |

Location: BOSSIER CITY, LA | Just wanted to let you know that Chelsea went to Walmart today. Sally was able to take her out on a short trip away from rehab. She was a little aprehsive because she thought people were staring at her in her wheelchair. Sally said they are going to start making her house handicap accessible for her to come home hopefully around the 26th of this month and continue her rehab her. |
