Ryon had a good morning...........but has not felt well since around 5pm. I know he probably just needs to get some rest, but he won't go to bed.
On a positive note,.....he is getting more "feeling" in his back and stomach. (really all over) He knows when I touch a foot, etc. We are really excited about it! Thank You Lord!
so happy to hear this, i think of you each day , praying for full recovery. with the Lords help healing will come in time. rest and good food will be his healing. probably things he dont like to eat. smile. |

Location: Tom, Oklahoma | CB, as for diet.........he is encouraged to eat lots of protien for his skin to help avoid pressure sores.......good thing too, my men are meat eaters, so that is pretty easy. Ryon does not have the appetite he used to have. He eats good things, just not much of it. We are doing pretty good. Has had blood pressure issues the last 2 days. yesterday, he just felt light headed , but this morning he nearly passed out when I got him in the chair. really scared me. So today, we have stayed close to home, and just taken it easy. (I think we got him up to quick this morning.....we know we need to take it slow, but had places to go! lol) |

Yes, we are doing the cranberry thing, and is on some high powered antibiotics. He is feeling better today, and told me when I put him to bed that he thinks he has this UTI whipped! Sure hope so.......I can't stand to see him feeling bad. |

Location: Tom, Oklahoma | Hello everyone! I know it has been a while since I updated ya'll on Ryon's progress, but if I don't have any major news.......I feel I'm just wastin' space. lol
We got back this evening from Little Rock. Ryon had Dr appointments with his Vascular and Neuro doctors. (they were follow up visits after surgery) He got good reports from both, and we do NOT have to go back! wooohooo! Now, it is just REHAB and more REHAB!
Ryon's attitude is good. He has been working hard getting stronger in his shoulders/arms. He getting more feeling in his legs/feet, but unfortunately, no strength or movement.
Thank you all for your continued prayers. I have faith that he will continue to just get better! Hugs to all! |

Sorry I have not updated in a while.........but it has been crazy around here. The roll of "caregiver" takes some getting used too. SO many adjustments in our lives right now.
Ryon's attitude is really good...........he deals with it so much better than I probably would. He does get down sometimes, and that is mainly because he needs more rehab right now, and is unable to get it. Still so much to learn about being able to live independently again! He did not have insurance, so therefore he is having to wait to be approved for SSDI. I filed for it Feb. 23, and we are still waiting. "They" say that it takes anywhere from 3-6 months. So I guess in our case, 6 or 7 months. lol.
thank God for the wonderful people who put on his benefit barrel race!! We were able to pay for his Van, (with wheelchair lift) and are working on getting his electric wheelchair now.......it has also helped pay for his medications he has to be on.
we are adjusting more everyday, not saying you ever get used to dealing with a SCI. |

Hello Ms Carm! So good to see you here! I just have to tell everyone this story......every since Ryon got hurt in Feb., he has has no triceps on the left arm. When he holds his arm up and tries to push up with his hand, he cannot do it. Just no muscles or nerves in the triceps. Yesterday, he was telling a visitor about his triceps, and proceeded to show them that he could not raise his arm over his head.....when he attempted to raise his arm, it worked! !!!!! He could actually raise his arm over his head. All of our eyes bout bugged out of our heads!! LOL I'm so thankful to be able to share this story! He has gotten a little bit back!! :D Thank you Lord! Yes, Carm, our Lord does have a plan! |
