Location: missouri | srs - 2011-02-23 5:45 PM I'm hoping that Blake will get on here and read this at some point. I want to share one of my favorite memories of the Worland family and, hopefully, give Blake a smile... It was my second year of barrel racing and my husband had just bought Little Son Ofa Gun from Worlands as a surprise for me. I load Gunny and my other horse, a nice grey son of MSM and headed to the Silver Cup in Tulsa, where my family had a hunter/jumper barn nearby in Bixby for me to keep my horses at while I competed. My first run on Gunny was terrible. Poor Gunny! The Worlands were their usual kind, encouraging selves and lied through their teeth with plenty of "Good job!" comments. I had a nice run on my grey, finishing just out of the 1D money with MANY top horses competing. The second day, as I recall, I tipped with both horses. I got up on Sunday morning, the day of the short go's for the open horses and the futurity horses and decided I'd just go watch and relax & enjoy the day, since I didn't make the open short go. When the futurity finals were finished, I crossed paths with Bob and Jeanine. In his usual style, Bob hugged me and said, "Congratulations on making your first 1D finals!!" "Oh," I corrected him, "I didn't make it." He walked me over to the list and showed me my name on the 1D short go list and had to explain to this novice that several of the same horses earned 1D checks and so they go down the list to the next fastest horses. I had NO idea!!!!!!! So, I jumped in my pickup and hauled butt back to our family's place. Gunny was sunbathing in the center of the pond, as he had an odd fixation for water. He had to go along to "babysit" the neurotic MSM gelding who I had to run.....at any moment. I swam out to get Gunny, loaded horses and made it back to the Fairgrounds just in time to warm my horse up and make my run. I didn't pull a check, but came in 15th out of the 30 in the short go. If it wasn't for Bob, I would have missed my very first 1D finals in a large event and I would have been absolutely heartbroken if I had. Bob teased me about it allllllllllllllll the time!! Thanks, itty bitty!
Thank you for sharing SRS Blake has asked me to print some of the stories out so Janine can read them at a later date.... |

| This is the most amazing family I have ever met! They always were their when you needed them with a smile on their faces. I remember we were in Nebraska at a race and they were calling for tornadoes, all of us kids decided to ride in the trailers as the parents pulled the into a barn for safety. While in one of those trailers that bob was backing for a woman whom didn't think she could without hitting one of the many cement pillars...........crash bob backed it into a pillar, we laughed for awhile after we found no damage.:) the worlands were great we had a cookout that night in the barn! Great times I will never forget all the memories I have of this wonderful family! |

| Bob saved us many times too! We were going to Joseys Jr World, borrowed a friends big LQ and I was terrified pulling it. Bob & Blake (Janine flew down later) made a special stop to meet us. That way I could follow and if he could get the bus & trailer through construction zones, I would make it too! LOL! We had soo many fun times, but nobody has mentioned his cooking!!! We had some pretty good eats in lawn chairs by the bus. I hope he's looking down on us smiling knowing how much him and his family are loved!! Dawn & Kelsey |

Lisa,
I won't be able to make it to the funeral since I already had plans to go out of town this weekend, but I'll be there in my thoughts, and all of you in my prayers! Please PM the Worland's address to me so can send a sympathy card. And give Blake a great BIG hug for me! Let me know what I can do to help with the memorial barrel race too. Find God's comfort at this time, DeLayna |

Shane and I truly wanted to attend Bob's funeral. We seriously discused driving south from Omaha/Lincoln, when we ran into a full out Blizzard. Road conditions are not ideal, so we drove slowly home. Our thoughts, our hearts and our Sympaties are with You this moment; tomorrow and over the coming months. Sending big {{HUGS}} IttyBitty; We will Remember You......always God Bless, Shane & Ronda Hilker (sunrise)
