The only cure is omeprazole, then you have to choose a supplement to keep them from coming back. I use OxyMax. I have also used U7 by Finish Line before with good results. I have tried to treat before with Ranitidine and Sulcrafate, but that was too much of a pain. My vet had the omeprazole compounded for me, cost me $350. I give 30 cc's a day for 30 days.

I use KPP Neighlox Advanced, but I have always been a huge supporter of their products. My horse was just scoped last week and he was clean, the vet said not to change a thing. So he will stay on it.

I think it depends on what kind of ulcers you are talking about. UlcercureOTC is a great omeprazole that I have used and will use in the future. For preventative it really depends. GastroEase works on my one mare really well. It doesnt on my other mare who has a different type of ulcer and she is on gastroguard.

THE GastroPlus. This is the only product I have found out that works the best and my horses don't relapse once they come off of it. What I also like is this product works differently from any other ulcer product out there. All the other products work to reduce the acid in the stomach which isn't always the problem and can lead to protein entropy. Sometimes it is the mucus membrane lining in the stomach that isn't thick enough to contain and control the acid. This product helps the body to produce more mucus in the lining of the stomach so it can control and contain the acid. I called up THE and asked them questions why they believe their product was going to help my horse because I was tired of fighting an ongoing ulcer battle with my horse. I figure after being educated by them it made sense to give it a try. I am so glad I made that call and drilled them haha Now I have happy horses.

You can't scope a horse for hind gut ulcers so people tend to forget about those. Omeprazole does not work on hind gut ulcers, instead you need a product with guaranteed levels of live probiotics and guaranteed levels of active enzymes. Stride Supplements makes a good product you can get from your vet called StableOne and an over the counter pellet called Transform DSI. I trust these because they are proven through research to improve the digestive tract and they were tested by veterinarians and trials for 2 years before being offered to the public for sale. Plus its under $100 for a full month treatment!!
