| I use omeprazole to treat then I feed FORCO all the time and Ulsershield while hauling/competing or other times of stress. If you would like a code for ulsershield discount PM me. I like that ulsershield is a liquid because it sticks to the grain good and my horses eat it and the FORCO really well, actually they will eat FORCO all by itself. |

Location: Louisiana | I was feeding U-Gard powder to T-Bo. The only reason I stopped is because I swapped over to TE and the powder was sifting through the pellets and making a nasty mess in his feed bucket. Total Equine is supposed to help with ulcers anyway, so I figured I'd wait and see if he has any symptoms before ordering the pellets. But the U-Gard is cheap, he ate it fine in his old feed, and it worked. |

| So, how long and how often do you give the Gastro Guard or Ulcer Guard? I've heard a 1-2 days, a week, and a month...?!? I wouldn't think that one syringe (30ml) for 1-2 days would work...

I cannot say enough good things about Progressive Nutrition's Soothing Pink pellets!! Enough so, that I have bugged them about being a dealer (still waiting on a reply *cough, cough) so that I can help others out with this amazing stuff. My mare turned from being one of the b!tchy things that runs from you in the pasture, to meeting me at the gate every morning because she knew she was getting the stuff. I've tried products from other companies (I won't say what. I still use other products from those companies, though), with little to no difference. Again, SOOTHING PINK!! lol
Wow, I checked out the Soothing Pink Pellets..it's $51 for a 14 day supply...that's a bit pricey!! |

Did you look at the ingredients, it contains animal plasma, not sure I want to be feeding that to my horse. |

A full dose once a day for 28 days. Ulcer OTC is same stuff but way cheaper :) |

Location: Valley City,ND | Please check into where the chemicals are sourced from. omeprazole is a very unstable raw chemical. Must be kept basic with a pH greater than 8 and in a stable base (usually buffer) to keep usable/viable plus needs to be protected from light during compounding and after. Make sure the compounder is certified and accountable, licensed to do business in your state. There was a great article in barrel horse news about ulcers and how to treat and who to trust for the drug omeprazole from compounders. Ask to see the independent lab results on the finished product for potency and stability. Don't give your horse drugs without knowing where they came from and IF they are proven to be what is on the label. Location: Dearing, GA | I use UlcerCure OTC (Thanks DJG!) but I also have used Apple Cider Vinegar. Just pour it on their feed. It may smell yucky but I've never had a horse not eat it. Plus it's the cheapest option out there. $1.85 for a big jug at Kroger. Â |

| My horse was full of ulcers... never had her scoped because the cost of scoping was half the cost of the treatment! we did the gastroguard and for a year after i gave her the ulcergard when hauling... but i found the best treatment for my mare... is pasture... big bales of hay.... and a mini to keep her company when traveling... in the last year ihaven't given her meds and she is happy as a lark. and i'm happing i'm not paying any more vet bills! 3
ETA i also did the SmartPak's and she did great on it also when kept up in a run in/out but the pasture really has been the best thing for her!

Location: MN | what helped my mare the most was putting her on a diet without soy ...no soybean product in her grain. i currently feed a pelleted feed flax based. made a complete differance in her. if i haul i use succeed paste and a 1/4 tube of ulcergaurd. ive feed lots of the recommended supplements with no differance when shes hauled. so i dont feed any daily supplements just changed the grain . shes doing great now i do feed a alf/grass mix
