Your thoughts?..

How many of you use this or have?

Who would benefit from it?

For example, I had an accident a while ago with my horse. I ended up going over her shoulder. To ride her correctly I have to stay up on her, be able to use my legs at ALL TIMES to keep her off of the barrels. But, at the same time be able to sit and be secure as she swings around the barrels pretty hard and comes out of them hard making it difficult to keep up. Since the accident my confidence level has gone way down. I also have a tendency when using my legs, of leaning to one side or another. This is how I believe I ended up over her shoulder in the first place.

I know they seem to have a bad rap with some barrel racers who I have heard say that if you have to use one of these that you can’t ride…what are your thoughts?

Thanks!

Sounds like you have a powerhouse.  I had two horses I used a magic seat on - they both required me to ride DEEP into the turns and they were Quick and powerful 1Dat Big Races )/ Pro Rodeo Circuit finals horses .  The magic seat gave me that split second I  needed to get the job done with out possibly being left at the barrel.  Some people use Bucking rolls - I felt trapped with those. others use Chaps - they were not quite enough.  On both my hroses there were times I road a tad tooo deep and yes the velco does pop loose - but I had time to grab the horn.  Good Luck - and these correctly used are a tool used to get the job done- like a crop, spurs or chaps- .

Yep, just a tool. Don't worry about every ones else's opinion. Do what is right for you. I use one for, "just in case".

Yep, I've used one too.  The mare I was riding would just dig down deep and power out of the barrels knocking me back in the saddle, it gave me the little extra I needed to keep centered and keep up with her leaving a turn.

It's a useful tool and can benifit greatly...if for nothing more than confidence...I don't give a flip what others may think about anything I do as long as I know I'm doing my best....learned that long ago and with age, when I started not giving a flip about others opinions I started enjoying life more.
