Ghosts of Ropings Past- (a little humor)

Last night I came home from work to ride my horse in the indoor arena that I share with some team ropers. 2 little spotlights over the roping box and a full moon is all I have for light. The guys had parked "Smarty" the roping dummy along the arena wall
(For those that don't know what a "Smarty" is, imagine a plastic lifelike steer body attached to a sled and pulled by a 4 wheeler.
) So I'm riding around in the semi-darkness and came upon "Smarty" and there silhouetted against the wall was a steer 4 times it's normal size. My horse snorted, then spun around so fast and was fixin' to be in the next county. I finally got him going by it in a big arc but he kept looking back over his shoulder to make sure that thing wasn't going to come off the wall and gobble him up. I have to admit it kinda scared me too. After I was done riding and put him in his pen he ran up to his buddy and kept touching him with his nose. I could almost hear him say " OMG! Don't go near the arena, there is a monster in there!"

Lol, too funny. We had some that booger at the hot heels that are perfectly fine with real steers. Actually its the roping horses that seem to be worst about it.

Yeah, even in the daylight the Smarty has spooked a few with his extremely lime green exterior. They say horses are colorblind somewhat. Idk? With the price of live steers, horses will have to suck it up and accept the Hot Heels and Smarty's. Lol.
