Ctrygal, I have heard that Vit D deficiency is linked to hair loss, but I don't know if that has been established for certain.
Carol, yes, 50,000 units was the correct dose.....that is a replacement dose and given for a limited time, not a maintenence dose. |

I'm glad to hear this Nettie, because you compete at a pretty high level, and you need this. You don't ride slugs. This could make the difference between a broken pelvis or hip, versus a bad bruise for you or me. I assume you are taking calcium too? |

Location: Wisconsin | Yes, and my doctor was with me the day i got hurt and was airlifted, with 5 displaced ribs (up to 3./4 inch apart)...wonder if i was deficient then? Maybe thats why i broke so bad. Same day i got levels back, she sent me for a bone scan that day. Im on calcium too. Said the Osteopenia was well in force! |

At your age, you should be seen at least once a year, especially with ongoing medical problems. You should discuss screening, especially for breast cancer and colon cancer. You should also have a chemistry panel (which checks liver enzymes, kidney function, etc...) and have lipids checked, at a minimum. Nexium, and drugs like it reduces the absorbtion of Vitamin D and Calcium. If you are taking 5000 IU of Vitamin D a day, then you probably need to stay on that dose. With calcium, you can safely take 1000 mg a day, at your age. A Vit D level here (total Vit D) is normal if it is above 30, but I don't know what normal is where your lab was done. |

Also make sure to balance it with vitamin K2 so it work properly.
