Where was she this year? Did something happen or was she just taking the year off. I admittedly don't keep up with news during the regular season. I missed seeing her and Jethro at the NFR!

I think her horses both got sore at the end of the year and she just barely missed the NFR. I want to say I read that Jethro had been hurt a lot and she ran Dora quite a bit to stay in the hunt for Vegas.

Well boo! I really missed them. I hope both Jethro and Dora recover nicely and we will get to see them in 2014!

Her mom comes on here some.  I'll send her a message.......she did have a rough year, Jethro has so much heart that I think he over did it at times.  Dora is coming on up and I can't wait to see her this year.

I want to say her mom posted on here towards the end of the season that both horses were sore/hurt and instead of scrambling to find a replacement or borrow she was going to head home and let everyone rest up for the next season.
BTW KMC.....Last night I made the chicken/cheese rolled up in soft shelled taco shells you posted the recipe for a while back.  Yummy yummy yummy is all I can say.  Thank you for posting that.

Jethro got hurt, then Dora did just before the final couple of rodeos so they decided to give Dora a little time off so she could heal and run at the Canadian finals.  Brenda is doing great, I've seen here a couple times locally riding colts and I know she's enjoying watching her son wrestle (he's won his weight class in the last two tournaments, I'm sure she wouldn't have wanted to miss that for the world!).

That's great! Glad to hear she is doing well and getting to spend time with her son. She and Jethro have been one my favorite teams for a while!

Brenda is cutting back on her rodeo schedule while her son Kyle is still in HS. He's a Jr this year and is really into football, wrestling and HS rodeo. She plans on going to Tucson, Houston, Austin. His wrestling is over end of Feb, she can work Tucson around the distric playoffs, and his HS rodeos don't start until middle of April. Plans on rodeoing in the summer. Her Dad and I are heading to Arizona end of this month and will take the horses with us, so they will already be down south, I'll keep them rode, and Brenda will fly in. Jethro is doubtful for 2014, but Dora is rested and ready to go. Zeva, the 6 yr old is growing up and may be seeing a little rodeo action this year, time will tell. Got a couple nice Judge Cash colts she's been riding, a 4 and a 3 yr old, plus riding outside horses, so been keeping busy. Life has taken a little different turn, and hitting the road as hard as she has the last 8 years will take a backseat for awhile. Brenda has been having a great time going to Kyle's wrestling tournaments and he has a really good chance in the 160 weight bracket when district and state come around. He won district in his weight division last year, which Brenda got to see, but then she missed State because of San Antonio and San Angelo, so decided until he graduates, she won't enter rodeos that interfere with his schedule. She remembers her HS sports days, and how much it meant for her Dad and I to be at all her VB and BB games, and wants to do that for Kyle. It was tough to be so close to making the NFR again this year, but when things just kept going wrong, she decided it was time to go home and re-group, and there was most likely a reason she didn't make it this year. Well, on Dec 5th, the 1st perf of the NFR, Frank, her Dad, went into the hospital for emergency heart surgery to have 2 stents put in. Would have been pretty hard to be at the NFR with that going on, and not here with his regular doctor! Had more than one person besides Brenda say that's probably the reason. So, life is taking us a different direction, at least for awhile, and we'll see what the future has in store!

Good to know that she'll still be getting to go some (I bet it would be tough to "quit" cold turkey after going so hard), and I think we can all applaud her for wanting to watch Kyle in high school sports. That is the type of thing that only comes around once in a lifetime and if you miss state, districts, etc., you don't get a second chance. Rodeos will always be there especially if she's got more horses coming up through the ranks.

Thanks so much for the update.  I hope Frank is doing well and on the road to recovery.  The kids grow up so fast.  I'm just a weekend warrior but gave it up to haul my kids through their rodeo years.  Now that I have that accompished I can start going again and I have no regrets.
