I'm giving a speech for my college COMS class on how to maintain a barrel horse and was wondering what everyone does to accomplish this? I have a few things but I want to make sure I don't miss anything. Thanks!

By "maintain" do you mean strictly on the pattern through exercise and pattern work? Or do you mean over all maintenance; diet, vet; exercise etc?

All over maintenance :
) I have nutrition, exercise/conditioning, vet/farrier, fitting equipment and alternative therapies
(massage, acupuncture, chiropractor
).

This is late, but if you still need input- I usually have a up during the day/ out at night routine we keep, we feed in the mornings when we bring them in and mine gets a joint supplement to keep her feeling good. I keep her in a magnetic sheet during the day,
(it's light and cool so she isn't stifled in this FL heat
), and PLENTY of water. I change her water every other day, and sometimes every day and I wash the tub it's in once a week REALLY GOOD. I'm a little freakish about them having good, fresh, clean water. We slow work the pattern if there's kinks we need to work out and other than that- long trot, long trot, long trot, and breeze! Lol
I keep everyone barefoot- I am really blessed with easy keepers- no weight issues, no feet issues, and a great vet & farrier :
