Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | http://www.searktoday.com/mental-evaluation-ordered-for-man-charged... This happened in my small rural community last weekend. The guy has been mentally "off" his entire life, and was also known to do drugs. His mom had taken care of him and sheltered him from consequences...who knows what set him off. It doesn't say it in the news article, but when police got there, he was naked in the front yard, having burned his bloody clothes. |

Location: East Tennessee but who knows?! | Â Thats sad. Maybe. at least now that he'll be incarcerated he can't be a danger to anyone else. Just tragic though all the way around. |

| So sad. Â Mental illness is so devestating. Â When my daughter was 6 I was warned to not let her go to a mutual friends house but they would not tell me why. Â The family moved away so I was finally told that the 14 year old brother was committing sexual acts on their 6 year old daughter, Â punching the mom and 10 year old brother. Â He had mental issues but the mother refused to remove him from the home, "he is my child and I can love him through it", instead choosing family counseling and the dad rearranging work schedule so he could be at home when ever 14 year old was. Â He also remained in public schools. Â She used to ask my daughter to come spend the night. I was furious when I found this out and how she was willing to put others at risk. Her explanation was that her other 2 kids needed a normal life. It has been several years and I hope they had a good outcome but I wait for the day to see his name in the news :(.

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | He was never diagnosed and never received treatment for mental health even tho it was obvious he was not right. I wish it was easier for people to get help BEFORE things like this occur. |

Location: North Dakota | And his mother worked at a health care facility? Let me stir the pot, was she "medicating" him?? WHY won't people deal with reality when it comes to mental illness? So terribly sad. |

Location: lone star state | Working in criminal prosecution you would not believe the things that go on in your community! Mental health is the most broken messed up system followed closely by juvenile justice and child welfare.
If the original post is found insane or incompetent then he will not likely face criminal prosecution and be subject to the mental health system and its messed up laws!
As for the other post about the juvenile and sex abuse it goes on in sooo many communities! The families protect the juvenile abuser and allow them to become monsters who then end up as adult abusers with more victims! Research shows that proper treatment young offenders can be rehabilitated. however many deny and hide the abuse and allow the abuser to become adult abusers who can not be rehabilitated. The family who hides and protects the young offenders are basically sentencing the juvenile offender to prison as an adult and allowing another innocent child to become a victim.

Location: I can see the end of the world from here! | Very sad. There was a man who showed up in our community a couple years ago...he was homeless, talked to himself & his invisible kids...we all tried to help, gave him blankets etc...and invisible candy to his invisible children. He'd go out the highway and direct invisible traffic...like he was a triage officer...everyone was trying to get him help, my son found his jacket in the dirt on a warm day & tried to find him, called the sheriff's office, they finally came down after dark & drove around to no avail...found his body 2 weeks later, he had froze to death. We all still feel terribly guilty, but, the sheriffs office knew about him & convinced us that he likely got a ride out of town. Mental illness is so very sad...we all learned that you cannot ignore it...no matter who it is. |
