I always thought the point of a supplement was to SUPPLEMENT what your horse is lacking, so I really don't think there is any one supplement that is perfect for every horse. However, Platinum CJ addresses my horses needs the best, so I feel I get the most bang for my buck with it, though it is not cheap. I don't see the point in feeding a supplement because it is cost effective, if it doesn't give my horse exactly what it needs, or gives him something that he doesn't need. Just my two cents, there. I think you will get the best bang for your buck if you do a blood panel on your horse, and analyze any soreness etc., to find out what he really NEEDS and then find a supplement to compliment that.

Does anyone know if THE Muscle Mass has enough vitamin/minerals to be the only supplement fed with oats and T&A?

I would say no. I love THE, but it's not really a vitamin supplement.

I would go with a ration balancer. Triple Crown has a 30%. Buckeye has their Gro N Win. I think even Purina and Nutrena have their own versions now (although I wouldn't go with them if absolutely possible. Had a friend try the Purina version and it made her horse a nutcase. She put him on the Triple Crown and he's fine.)

I feed one of ours 1lb of Triple Crown 30% a day. She has free choice coastal and is turned out 24/7. She stays fat. One bag is $31.95. And she's the only one who eats it. So I spend $32 a month on her feed. It's pretty sweet.

That stuff is awesome!  I highly recommend it for ulcer prone horses, I've had so much success with it.  And the best part is it's super duper cheap!!!

The Muscle Mass is indeed a daily supplement. Here is a message when I did some checking.
It even contains electrolytes which most daily supplements do not.

"the Muscle Mass is a complete daily supplement full of vitamins, minerals, herbs and amino acids. If you don’t have a bag on hand to show the customer you can direct them to the website where we have a complete list of the ingredients in the products."

Ingredient Breakdown:

Soy Flour is one of the few vegan sources of complete protein, containing all of the essential amino acids. Soy Flour is also an excellent source of iron, calcium, and B-vitamins.

Flax Seed reduces LDL (bad) cholesterol and triglycerides. It is high in insoluble fiber, extremely rich in micronutrients and promotes regular bowel movements.

Chia Seed is an extremely nutrient dense superfood, packed with antioxidants, fiber, protein, calcium and more Omega-3 fatty acids per serving than salmon. It is legendary for its energizing, stamina-boosting, inflammation reducing qualities as well as its ability to protect the heart and stabilize blood sugar. It also helps to detoxify and is even believed to boost brain power.

L-Arginine aids in increasing muscle mass, wound healing, helping the kidneys remove waste, and maintaining immune and hormone function. It may help improve blood flow in the arteries of the heart.

Cinnamon has anti-inflammatory properties. Cinnamon has been effective in fighting stomach ulcers and may significantly lower LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. Studies show cinnamon improves memory and increases blood flow and performance.

Zeolite detoxifies and strengthens the immune system.

Cordyceps increases vitality, and stamina. Improves blood circulation, regulates blood pressure, and alleviates arrhythmias, thus protecting the heart.

L-Alanine helps convert blood glucose to energy and reduce muscle fatigue. It is a popular amino acid used for energy metabolism, low blood sugar levels, sports performance and endurance.

Beta Alanine boosts muscle mass, aids aerobic endurance, and enables your system to train harder and longer.

Ketoglutarate (L-Glutamine) aids optimal recovery, muscle growth, performance and supports health. It boosts growth hormone and reduces muscle deterioration.

L-Valine is essential for muscle tissue repair and muscle metabolism, as well as increasing exercise endurance. It also improves cognitive function.

L-Ornithine boosts the body’s immune reaction, aids in recovery from illness, and improves athletic performance.

Taurine Found in the nervous system and muscles, taurine is one of the most abundant amino acids in the body. It is thought to help regulate heartbeat, maintain cell membranes, and affect the release of neurotransmitters (chemicals that carry signals between nerve cells) in the brain.

Serine builds the immune system and maintains muscles and the heart. It is important for the correct function of the central nervous system and the brain.

Ginger has the ability to stop prostaglandins from causing pain and inflammation in the blood vessels. Ginger also contains moderate amounts of protein, calcium, phosphorous, iron, sodium, potassium, and magnesium.

Vitamin C (Ascorbic acid) is essential for the formation of bone and cartilage. It helps breathing and respiratory problems. The body uses ascorbic acid as an antioxidant, for physical and emotional stress, for the immune system, and to help against cardiovascular diseases.

Ginseng reduces mental stress and anxiety, and increases mental clarity and alertness. It stimulates the immune and nervous systems, reduces fatigue, and improves athletic endurance.

Vitamin E battles against oxidative stress caused by free radicals within the body. It possesses anti-inflammatory effects that can combat arthritis, rheumatism, asthma, and other inflammatory disorders.

N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine has detoxification properties, antioxidant properties, and aids the respiratory system. It has been used to treat lung complication in cystic fibrosis, treat chronic bronchitis, acetaminophen poisoning, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Spirulina Powder offers support for healing hypoglycemia, diabetes, chronic fatigue, anemia, ulcers, and boosting the immune system.

Licorice is helpful for promoting adrenal gland function and relieving muscle spasms.

Turmeric speeds up wound healing, assists in remodeling damaged skin, and may help in the treatment of psoriasis and other inflammatory skin conditions.

Zinc quickens the healing of skin ulcers, acne conditions, infections, disease, and improves the immune system. Athletes use zinc to enhance their performance and strength.

Schizandra Berry is a stimulator for the central nervous system, increased brain efficiency, improved reflexes, and an accelerated rate of endurance.

L-Citrulline opens and relaxes the blood vessels. It supports detoxification pathways, Nitric Oxide production, and a healthy cardiovascular system. L-Citrulline aids the body in elimination of ammonia, allowing the body to recover from workouts.

L-Carnitine increases strength and endurance, relieves physical and mental fatigue, promotes and maintains new development of muscle mass, reduces muscle injuries and sore muscles, accelerates regeneration, increases cardiac output, and lowers the heart rate under stress. It promotes formation of red blood cells, strengthens the immune system, and improves cognitive abilities like concentration, memory, and ability to learn.

Manganese Gluconate is involved in bone formation, formation of connective tissues, blood sugar regulation, immune function, and fat carbohydrate metabolism.

Calcium D-Pantothenate (B5) benefits energy production, healthy cholesterol, and triglyceride levels. It is good for skin care, and critical in the metabolism and synthesis of carbohydrate, proteins and fats.

Pyridoxine (Vit.B6) helps form red blood cells, helps cells make proteins, manufactures brain chemicals, and releases stored forms of energy. It strengthens the cardiovascular system, nervous system, and brain neurotransmitters. It has been used to treat muscle spasms, leg cramps, hand numbness, and some neuritis conditions.

Vitamin A strengthens mucous membranes, and has been found to enhance immunity, protect against environmental damage, heal gastrointestinal disorders, and form healthy bones and teeth. It is essential for white blood cells that fight infection once in the body.

Choline Bitartrate reduces the risk of heart disease and can reduce blood pressure and lower heart rate.

L-Tyrosine is for stress protection and better functioning during stress. It improves motivation, drive, concentration, and battles fatigue, while maximizing peak mental or athletic performance.

Niacinamide (Vitamin B-3) Blood circulation is improved to all areas of the body, and the risk of heart attack and peripheral vascular disease decreases considerably. It is very effective in increasing join mobility, enhancing muscle strength, and reduces muscle and joint fatigue.

Thiamine/Vitamin B1 Hydrochloride is sometimes called an “anti-stress” vitamin because it may strengthen the immune system and improve the body’s ability to withstand stressful conditions.

Riboflavin (Vitamin B-2) produces immune cells to fight infection, helps build red blood cells, repairs and maintains tissue, and heals wounds. It is used for the metabolization of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins for energy.

D-Biotin is vital for the metabolism of fats, proteins, carbohydrates, and the synthesis of fatty acids. It helps regulate blood sugar levels, and boosts the healthy creation and maintenance of nerves, bones, blood, and glands.

Folic Acid sharpens mental function, and protects the body from heart disease and stroke by reducing homocysteine levels. It supports tissue growth and cell function.

Vitamin B-12 converts carbohydrates into glucose in the body leading to energy production and a decrease in fatigue and lethargy.

Vitamin D3 maintains blood calcium levels for normal functioning of the nervous system, as well as for bone growth and the maintenance of bone density.

Iron is directly related to the health of the brain and its functions, fights against a number of diseases and infections, and maintains proper growth and robust health.
