| I did not want to steal the other cowbred thread so figured I would start my own. I am looking at a granddaughter of Doc's Hickory of her sire side and I believe a great granddaughter of Doc's Hickory on her dam side I believe(sorry only saw her papers for a minute). Do you know know much about this line? I am not usually a cowbred person but this horse is a steal at the price. Also possibly for down the road to breed what would be a good cross? |

| sorry I don't have it on hand :( I am looking at buying her from an older gentleman I know who has cutting horses so shes not on allbreeds or anything. I will try to find out more soon |

| My main guy is out of a stud who is by Docs Hickory - love EVERYTHING about him! A lot of the cutters in the barn he came from are out of that same stud, and they have really excelled. Both mine and his full brother are outstanding barrel horses (they are out of a Secretariat mare) - good minds, tons of personality, and a lot of try. |

Location: Okla | I have a mare that is a Docs Hickory and goes to High Brow Hickory on the bottom and top is Boon Freckles by Freckles Olena--not sure if her breeding will help you or not but wanted to throw it out there for you to decide, first time I have ever had that breeding, and she seems to want to be a one person horse, and by that, she seems to work better for me than my grand-daughter...you cannot work her down, she continues to give and give. and thrives on work .now the down side of her, she gets bored easily if not worked daily, she gets into 'everything', just being curious. But I love that line of breeding , no meanness in her whatsoever, if she is layed off for half a year, climb on her and go and its like she has been ridden daily.... good luck...   |

Location: Freestone TX | I was very sucessful with horses by Docs Superstar Bar, which was bred very closely like Docs Hickory. They were both sons of Doc Bar with Chickasha blood on the bottom. I was so sucessful with the DSB horses that I never strayed.......but always wanted to try Docs Hickory horses. |

Location: where the wind blows | My good friends stand a son of Docs Hickory out of a Smart Little Lena daughter. He is one of the most athletic horses I've ever seen. And he's wicked fast. And he's gorgeous to boot. I bought 2 of his daughters. One got hurt so I bred her to 99 Goldmine and the other is coming 3 and waiting to go to the trainer.
Basically I'm a fan of Docs Hickory horses. |

Location: Arkansas | My horse is a great grandson of Doc's Hickory and he is just awesome!! He was so easy to train, though he was a tad lazy at first. His personality is the greatest and resembles a dog's more than a horse's. He is so laid back, but gets excited when its time to work. I really believe if it weren't for all of his joint issues through the years, that he would be a top contender!! Very turny and aims to please! If I had a chance to buy another one like him, I wouldn't give a thought to it and just buy!
BTW: I've had him 11 years and I will never let him go to anyone else. I just couldn't bear knowing someone else had him; he has been there with me through so much! |

Location: Canada | I have a 3 yr old grandson of Doc's Hickory and I love him. He is on the smaller side ( 14.2-3) but he is the easiest thing to train and he just took everything in stride. Honestly when I broke him he had no reaction, almost like he knew what he was doing and has been doing it for ages. He is very lazy at times. But overall I really like all the Doc Hickory's that I've seen. |

Location: Southeastern Idaho | Love Doc's Hickory....Highbrow Hickory comes from this line...thus Highbrow Cat who is one of the hottest sires in cutting. I find that the Doc's Hickory's are prettier than the other lines of Doc Bar. I would have a barn full and definitely look when I see him in a horses pedigree. |

Location: Willows, CA | Mostly Bays, usually well put up, SMART! Love that line, but I have cutters, and a Hickory will usually look like you are better than you are. |

Folks on-line
