Location: Muskogee, OK | I am a little confused when it comes to getting a Title for a trailer in OK. From what I have been reading--- Oklahoma does not Title trailers? I am originally from Pennsylvania so my current trailer has a PA Title. I am doing a trade deal on a trailer with a woman in MO (her trailer is titled there).
So once the transaction occurs, we will write a bill of sale and then sign over each others titles to one another. Then what? If what I am reading is true, I technically don't even have to tag a horse trailer in OK?
Can anyone shed some light as to what my next steps will be, costs involved, etc. after purchasing the trailer and getting all the necessary paperwork/tags for Oklahoma? Thanks!

| You do not have to tag your trailer in Oklahoma. As far as having a title - I'm not sure about those legal requirements. We went ahead and titled/tagged ours because we have farm tags and the cost was only $14. We travel through so many states where tags must be on a trailer, we thought it just might be less of a hassle. We also thought if - heaven forbid - it's ever stolen there's a slim chance even though they are easily removed, the tags might help with identification. Call the Stillwater Tag Agency or the Perkins Tag Agency (they are very pleasant in Perkins) and ask. Hopefully this helps. |

If I am able to title it, I definitely want to! Doesn't make much sense to me as to why they don't Title them.. Especially considering that most other states require it when transferring a title to a new owner. I will call the tag agency and see what they say. It's helpful hearing what others have done in the past. |

Location: NE Oklahoma | When I tried to transfer the title on my trailer to OK the Tag Agency here in Claremore wouldn't do it. So I have the original IL title still. I haven't run into any problems yet and I've traveled out of state with it several times. |

Location: Midwest Farmer's Daughter: Central Illinois | I bought a trailer from a friend in Oklahoma & had to file for a lost title in Illinois because it didn't exist in the first place. It's an old trailer, of course, but still baffled me AND the lady at the DMV. |
