I looked in the dog pound- not sure where my original post went? Please delete if I am breaking the rules.
12 year old horse 16 hands gelding. Red Royal Streaker or Royal Red Streaker- I cant remember right now. Anyhow- I paid money to buy him simply to save him. He was starved and had lice.
He would be a great pet or companion. He may possibly make a trail riding horse or barrel horse if the person had experience. He has bucked twice- both times it was a freak thing but that being said- he is track broke only.
If you know someone looking- I would like to find him a home.
Thanks

Spray permethrin (spelling?) all over them once a day every day. I did that to my last one with lice. Killed them all pretty quickly. I used the concentrate that you dilute. Smells pretty awful lol.

I find it sad that a horse with a ROM and 86 SI ended up needing to be saved from starvation and lice. This horse was failed by someone :(

I bet he's been through several owners with no AQHA transfers along the way....

No, actually he has had the one owner listed who was partners with the breeder. I bought him from the breeder who ran him. He liked him too so he kept him even though he was a gelding. I think time got away from him. I think it was an isolated incident for whatever reason- as the others were not in the same condition. However, I could not leave him there.
Im certain he would take him back however I just have not gotten to that point. I hate for him to stand and I do not have the room for a pet as I do as much rescue with dogs. He has to be in a pen most often as we have a few babies we cant risk getting kicked by a huge gelding.

Also considered seeing if he would truly buck as I have a stock contractor friend who takes really good care of his stock. But once I go that route I dont know about his chances of being a riding horse?

Also a match racing horse comes to mind (Imsure he would go quickly on Craigslist) but I certainly dont think he deserves that...Im torn between logic and heart. I can not keep him for his life, just wanted to save his life.

I am in the same boat. I rescued a TB mare 2 yrs. ago from Deaths door! Well got her healthy gave to a Lady that I thought would take care of her, well she wasn't an all around, barrel, poles, roping trail riding horse, so she brought her back! I then gave her to a Stable that worked with special needs kids where she does great with the kids except she walks to fast for the ground handlers!! they have had her for 3 months and they are going to bring her back next week! Her sire won over 600K of the track! She is a nice mare, guess she was meant to stay with me but would love to find her a home.

Good luck with your guy.

You might consider breeding her with that great family line? It may be meant to be.

I do not have her papers...have no way of getting her papers. Plus she is an older mare 18.
Her name is Fran La Fran. I did have that confirmed by The Jockey club. Guess she was meant to be mine, I really cannot afford another horse. I just don't want her to be back in the situation she was in.
