OK LONG STORY SHORT... i have lost all confidence in my riding. i can ride my old trusty gelding and push him so hard but get on any other horse and im lucky to lope a solid set. i used to would jump on anything and ride the hair off of it. my new horse is so bomb proof its unreal but i still wont push him at all. What can i do??? i had thought about going to a martha josey clinic with him in march. do you think it would help?? i havent had an accident on horses just been on some unpredictable ones the past 2 yrs and ive had a baby. PLEASE help me

Attending a clinic would (I think) help, any new chance to learn and grow with your horse is great! Just take one day at a time, that is all we can do when gaining confidence back...

Pushing mine is what I have to work on too and its due to confidence. What has made the biggest difference for me is riding huntseat a whole lot more and riding in 2 point a whole, whole lot. I think its because you focus on the core muscles needed to push with and your balance gets so much better the more you do it. Also, riding with my eyes closed just to get in sync and get the feel of my horse. Time and building strength and balance. When you feel in control of your body, it effects your confidence level and how you ride.
