Location: A Higher Elevation | I am going to the Horsemen's Ball in March. So I need to start looking for something to wear. I would like to wear a dress of some kind. But it seems they are all short these days or really long... I don't want mid-thigh. What's wrong with knee-length? Am I that far out of it?? I've looked online at Rod's, Drysdales, Sheplers, & found one that would kinda work. I am a size 12, 5' 8". And I'm 46 yrs old. And, I'm not a girly girly girl... LOL Any ideas for me??

Location: Is it Summer Yet? | How "funky"/ trendy do you feel? Google skirt extenders. They'll make that mid-thigh skirt into a knee length one. They're pretty much a slip with lace on the end. |

Location: A Higher Elevation | So, I've narrowed down to a dress I already own (pic attached). It is full-length.
Then there is this one:

| aquinnell - 2014-02-21 4:03 PM Most definitely the one from NRS.... I agree. If you are uncomfortable with the length, then try wearing some leggings under it. There are so many cute western style dresses out right now that are mid thigh. Just put a nice pair of leggings under it and go. Wear it with a pair of nice dressy, pointy toed western boots. You could wear it with a pair of regular dressy style boots that zip up too..... or just any other kid of dressy boot. I think dresses look better with dressier type boots, not big round toe or square toed riding boots or the clunky, heavy style boots (can't remember what they are called).

Location: NE WY | DEFINATLY the one from the link you posted! I agree about the leggings too. I am also a size 12, 5'8 and I don't think anyone would consider me to have a "good body" I love leggings! The first time or 2 you wear them, you kind of have to get used to them, but once you do, you will love it and it will open up a whole new style to you....stuff you would have never worn before, you can now pair with leggings...I even have the Capri leggings to go under sun dresses in the summer.
I also agree about the boots...pointy toes, and tall!
Have fun! |
