Does anyone have any suggestions for anyone that I could send a horse to here pretty soon in the spring that could do some serious tuning up on her?
She came off the track a few years ago, and just wasn't ever started right. This little horse has had everything working against her since the day she came off that track. She has been running for a few years, but a majority of it has been a mess. She runs past first barrel, or dives her shoulder in super hard, she really has no form around the barrels...she was pretty much taught to run, then someone else bought her and instead of teaching her collection to slow her down, just held the reins tighter. So pretty much, this horse needs help.
I think she just needs to pretty much almost be re-broke or at least reminded of all of the basics. Her foundation just isn't there. Honestly, I was told she was ready to run when I bought her, and I while I love her to death and selling her is out of the question, I don't have the patience or the knowledge to teach her what she needs to know. Ive been trying all winter, but it really hasn't gotten us anywhere. I just don't know enough to give her what she needs. So im looking for someone who can take her and work on all the basics. I would like someone who could work with her on the barrels too if I could find someone like that.
Im in Brookings sd right now, but im from Minnesota. So I can pretty much take her anywhere that would be really good for her!
Im getting pretty desperate here...I would really appreciate suggestions!
Thank you!

ETA just noticed the last sentence. I can PM some suggestions in MN. Are you looking for more of a barrel trainer or a tune up on basics? What would the main focus be?

If you are looking for someone to go back to basics with the horse let me know...I have several suggestions for you.
That being said I have been working the last 3 months with one that had almost the same issues you are talking about. It is a slow and long road. Running on barrels may be out of the question for quite some time.
