Just like everything else, it depends on the horse.  A nice thoroughbred is like driving a Cadillac.  A nice QH is like driving a corvette.  A nice appendix is like a BMW, speed and agility.  I do not have any appendix at my house though.

LOL My Thoroughbred's name is Cadillac.
To the OP, I love my Thoroughbred and when looking for another horse I tend to lean towards the TB's but I don't think one is better than the other. I think it depends on the individual horse and what you want to do with the horse.

I have a TB and love her. She's the first one I've owned and she's very smart and quiet. I have just been taking my time with her and haven't even started the pattern on her yet. I haven't ran barrels in about 5 yrs and that's one of my goals for us. She is calmer than my cowy qh and hardly ever jumps or spooks. She's very calmed nature and a joy to ride and be around. She's lazy but wants to learn. I do think it depends on the horse but I wouldn't trade mine for the world.

I hope it's a genius idea, because we just unloaded our new TB stud yesterday! We are pretty excited, especially now that he is here!

We have owned TB mares before and I really liked one and while I didn't hate any of the others, I did not keep any of the rest very long.

When we unloaded this horse yesterday, I have to admit I don't recall unloading a horse here ever that was so quiet. No squealing. No jigging around. It's icy here and still he was just . . . well, last spring we bought an old rodeo gelding that has been hauled and hauled and the gelding wasn't much more excited that this horse.

He's big and pretty moving, but the intelligent, quiet mind is making me so excited about him I almost forgot to mention he's a son of Seattle Slew. I can see some really classy QH and Paint broodmares in my pasture by this horse in a couple years.

We have a TB/QH cross yearling that is the most docile, laid back thing I've ever had my hands on.  She learns quickly and has a willing to please attitude so far.  She was bred specifically to be an 870 yd horse on the track.  Time will tell.
