You're from Kansas so I'm not surprised you don't understand that a whole lot more people make money CUTTING firewood than making the stoves. Where I come from this ban will finally be the start of the shooting war that has been coming. Virtually everybody has a wood stove in rural Missouri and they all have guns too. We simply can't afford any other form of heat in the winter.
True, we get a lot of wood hauled in from Missouri come to think of it.

I'm very intrigued by solar power and it has always fascinated me. It looks like market forces and technology are on the brink of making solar energy much more affordable for individuals. My local "co-op" has tried to stay ahead of the curve by offering people chances to buy solar panels that will be set up at their facility. They say the energy generated by my "investment" will offset monthly elecricity costs. One set of panels would run on the order of $1800....which will probably lower my monthly electricity bill by $50. I like the idea, but not as much as setting up my own, and having them buy from me! As far as the EPA tryng to tell me not to burn wood, they can go straight to hell. I'l just tell them I am doing my part by utilizing the oldest known "renewable" energy source known to man. They can just pound sand, as far as I'm concerned. |

I don't believe it is cheaper, you still have to have the capacity for when the wind isn't blowing. They are high maintenance and you have to build extra transmission lines. IMHO it is another feel good, government boondoggle!  |

Oh please... I never said anything about you being stupid... But I'm from Missouri and I've been all over Kansas and I know what resources you have and you don't have anywhere near the amount of trees we have. Once you get south of the river in Missouri it's ALL trees.. |

I wonder if I could convert my stove some way so it would generate more. Look at the Power Pot ...If that was bigger WOW that would be awesome.. I would have heat and electricity for pennies. |

If you have an indoor stove.. these things will help a lot... works on wood, coal and oil stoves. We've had one for years.

Ummm NO. The is nothing banning the sale of wood burning stoves. There is in Fact a proposed set of regulations from the EPA to reduce the pollutants. Much of which is caused by people not buring aged, dry wood.
This has actually happened before and although a few smaller stove manufacturers closed the rest stepped up and updated the new models.
Has nothing to do with controlling the price of fuel either.
AND btw..... proposed regulations leave each and every state to write laws that will apply to their residents. The sky is not falling, the President is not conspiring to freeze rural America out.

LOL.....how stupid of me to think any regulations coming out of this administration could possibly have a sinister motive! Our beloved president so loves this country that he would never do anything to make our lives more difficult.
Oh....darn. I forgot one of his comments regarding his "Cap and Trade" proposal: "Under my plan of a cap and trade, electricity rates will necessarily skyrocket...." - Barack Obama, 2008.
Obama isn't sinister. We just aren't capable of understanding his motives....he really is looking out for all of us. We should all line up to kiss his ass.
I have changed my mind. I think we need more safeguards like this imposed upon people by the enlightened progressive left. Lord knows that ever since man has been burning wood for heat, thousands of years ago, millions of people have suffocated and suffered from the ill effects on the climate and air quality. |

Right Karen That's why the ever so fair EPA is having their public hearing in Boston Mass. THE most liberal state in the union. I don't think they are going to have a lot of people from rural areas there to B****. Geez you think they planed it that way. Ok, so I"m not 100% positive about the vericity of this, but I read something today or yesterday that in some areas the wind farms are only running at half capacity because they generate too much energy which reduces what the electric company can charge. I think I just worded that the way I read it. Maybe the person I saw discussing it will weigh in here?

This is not correct. The EPA does NOT allow states to make their own little rules...they have blanket regulations that apply 'equally' to everyone despite the application. The sky is only falling on the people who buy into the hype & bull of those who justify their jobs by perpetuating the non-issues. |

| Yes... I can totally see how this makes sense. Let's ban woodstoves because of the polluntants.
Nevermind that chopping the deadfall and using it for heat is doing a service because it helps cut the potential fire hazard risk that deadfall creates.
I can see how a forest fire that burns thousands of acres would be SO MUCH kinder to our air than a few people heating with a woodstove.
Let's face it, this is also about control on rural America How many apartment buildings in the big city have woodstoves? Or houses? Unless they were built in the 1950's in the city before the lovely EPA got so much power. |

She's obviously never had to deal with the fallout of EPA regs and inspections herself. The states are free to impose STRICTER rules, but they can't actually change anything about EPA rules, and EPA trumps the state according to our illustrious federal government. |
