Do you use your outside or inside leg when turning the barrels?

Is he pushing through the bit?
If so start over slowly and controlled and only add speed when you can keep him under control and turning correctly, maybe try a running martingale too.

Ok, yours sounds similar to mine. Going to the barrel she was fine but coming on the back side or going to another barrel she wanted to go out and away from it. So in your slow work when you approach your first barrel or any barrel for that fact, use your inside leg but when going around the backside and going away from it remove your inside leg and put on your outside leg. This really helped my mare keep her in line for the next barrel and keep her where she was suppose to be around it, not away from it. Or you can try this with different drills or anything. but you might have to start using your outside leg when going around the back side and away from it and less inside unless you absolutely have to, to keep him from hitting it or if he's moving in on you , hope this helps
